Systems And Methods For Noise Reduction In Audio And Video Components

US Patent:
2008000, Jan 3, 2008
Filed:
Jun 28, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/770084
Inventors:
Michael Pyle - Draper UT, US
International Classification:
H04B 15/00
US Classification:
381 941
Abstract:
One embodiment of the present invention relates to a noise containment and vibration isolation system for integrated audio/video electrical components. The system includes a housing, an inlet, an outlet, an electrical component board, a noise containment system, and a mechanical isolation system. The noise containment system includes encasement of the electrical component board and baffling of the inlet and outlet air vents. Noise containment obstructs direct ambient air flow paths within the housing, thereby also impeding and obstructing the transmission path of air-based sound waves. The mechanical isolation system includes positioning dampening members between the housing and the electrical component board. The mechanical isolation system further includes positioning a dampening member between the housing and a supporting surface. Mechanical isolation minimizes the transmission of vibration-based sound waves between mechanical coupling points. The combined use of noise containment and component isolation significantly reduces noise transmission of the system, thereby increasing sensitive audio and/or video functionality of the electrical component board.

Systems And Methods For Housing Electrical Components

US Patent:
2008000, Jan 3, 2008
Filed:
Jun 28, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/770050
Inventors:
Michael Pyle - Draper UT, US
International Classification:
H01R 29/00
US Classification:
439188
Abstract:
One embodiment relates to an encased electrical component board housing system, including an electrical component board encased within a housing. The housing includes an internal chassis, a base, and an intercoupled plurality of panels. The internal chassis supports the electrical component board within an internal region. The panels are selectively intercoupled so as to enclose the internal chassis. The panels are sequentially intercoupled to substantially audibly seal the intercoupling regions between the plurality of panels. The couplings between the panels include translation channels and coupling members extending into the internal chassis. The electrical component board includes audio and/or video functionality. A second embodiment relates to a method for substantially encasing an electrical component board within a housing. The method includes coupling two side panels to the internal chassis, rotatably coupling the front panel to the internal chassis, translating a top panel between two side panels, and translating a rear panel between two side panel.

Systems And Methods For Providing Spectral Feedback To Visually Convey A Quantitative Value

US Patent:
2008001, Jan 17, 2008
Filed:
Jun 28, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/770057
Inventors:
Michael Pyle - Draper UT, US
International Classification:
G08B 5/00, H05B 39/00, H05B 41/00
US Classification:
340332
Abstract:
One embodiment relates to a complex quantitative media performance metric spectral display system. The system displays a spectral color that accurately represents a complex quantitative value of a media performance metric. The system includes an integrated electrical component system, a parameter input module, a control module, and a spectral output module. The integrated electrical component system relates to audio and/or video media functionalities. The parameter input module is configured to receive a parameter that corresponds to a media performance metric of the integrated electrical component system such as internal temperature, proximate electromagnetic radiation, video brightness, or audio volume. The control module includes a correlation algorithm configured to correlate the parameter with a color. The control module also includes a spectral component algorithm configured to correlate the color with a set of red, green, and blue intensity components. The spectral output module includes a plurality of electrical components independently configured to display a single visual wavelength.

Systems And Methods For External Electrical Component Interconnection

US Patent:
2008004, Feb 21, 2008
Filed:
Jun 28, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/770034
Inventors:
Michael Pyle - Draper UT, US
International Classification:
H05K 1/11, H05K 5/02
US Classification:
361752, 361803, 439 65
Abstract:
One embodiment relates to an encased electrical component board interconnection system, including an audio/video related electrical component board encased within a housing, an interconnection panel disposed on an external surface of the housing, and an interconnection retaining system. The electrical interconnection panel facilitates the electrical coupling between the electrical component board and external electrical devices. The interconnection panel includes electrical couplers disposed on independently oriented coupling surfaces. The coupling surfaces may be oriented in a convex outward facing configuration to facilitate efficient coupling and may further include an intermediary positioned labeling surface. The interconnection retaining system releasably supports an elongated interconnection device connected to the electrical couplers at a particular three-dimensional orientation that minimizes visual obstruction of the electrical interconnection panel and maintains proper electrical connection.

Systems And Methods For Improved Cooling Of Electrical Components

US Patent:
2008001, Jan 17, 2008
Filed:
Jun 28, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/770070
Inventors:
Michael Pyle - Draper UT, US
International Classification:
H05K 7/20
US Classification:
361695, 361694
Abstract:
One embodiment relates to an electrical component cooling system that facilitates convectional air flow. The system includes a set of electrical component boards, an inlet, an outlet, and a housing. The electrical component boards each include a plurality of electrical components and are oriented vertically. The inlet is disposed on the housing below the electrical component boards, and the outlet is disposed on the housing above the electrical component boards. The housing substantially encases the electrical component boards and further includes a plenum. The inlet enables ambient air to flow into the plenum disposed within an internal region of the housing. The plenum horizontally directs the air to locations vertically aligned with the regions between the electrical component boards to facilitate convectional air flow in the vertical direction. Heat transfer occurs between the electrical component boards and the air as it flows across the surfaces of the electrical component boards.
