Device For Use In Bleaching Or Coloring Hair In Discrete Portions For Artistic Effect

US Patent:
4224954, Sep 30, 1980
Filed:
Jul 5, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/921981
Inventors:
Michael L. Stahl - Miami FL
International Classification:
A45D 700
US Classification:
132 7
Abstract:
A device for use in bleaching or coloring hair in discrete portions comprised of a thin planar base member with a hand grip portion at first end, a generally U-shaped top member including a transverse span portion atop the base member, adjacent the hand grip portion, and a pair of generally parallel arms or thin planar material extending from the span portion along the base member, adjacent the respective side edges thereof, to points adjacent a second end of the base member. A moisture impervious flexible sheet of a suitable material, such as aluminum foil, is disposed between the base and U-shaped top members. A lock of hair is disposed over at least a portion of the central area of the foil, and a hair coloring or bleaching fluid is applied thereto. A pair of oppositely outwardly extending wing portions of the foil is folded over the lock of hair, after which the device is slidably removed from the foil, which remains in wrapped engagement about the lock of hair. Preferably, the foil has a fold at the base to add strength to end part and to catch and hold any excess fluid which might run off the hair.

Device For Use In Straightening Or Relaxing Hair, And Method Therefor

US Patent:
4403622, Sep 13, 1983
Filed:
Jul 28, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/402790
Inventors:
Michael L. Stahl - Miami FL
International Classification:
A45D 218
US Classification:
132 43R
Abstract:
This invention relates to a device for use in straightening or relaxing overly-curly or wavy, unmanageable hair, using caustic compositions which can irritate the scalp or skin if brought into contact therewith. The device includes a planar base member or board, adjustable for head size and hair length, with means for covering with paper or similar material which overlaps the top edge of the board. The board covered with the paper is placed next to the scalp and the hair overlaps the board and paper at the top edge. The paper is cut off at a distance from the length of a lock of hair placed thereupon. The relaxing composition is then applied to the lock of hair and worked into the hair for suitable time, as determined by the operator. The board is then removed and the process repeated for another lock of hair.

Locking Nut Assembly

US Patent:
4057985, Nov 15, 1977
Filed:
Apr 16, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/677835
Inventors:
Michael A. Stahl - Miami Beach FL
Assignee:
Far Out Products, Ltd. - Hollywood FL
International Classification:
F16B 4100
US Classification:
70231
Abstract:
A locking nut assembly comprises an axle nut, a resilient ring member and a cover member. The axle nut has a threaded bore at one end and a locking bore at the other end thereof. The threaded bore has a structural configuration which threadingly engages a bicycle axle. The outer surface of the axle nut has flat surface areas and an annular groove. The resilient ring member is disposed within the annular groove. The cover member is slidingly disposed over the outer surface of the axle nut. The cover member has a tapered, smooth outer surface and an end portion with a bore opening juxtaposed the locking bore of the axle nut. The use of the assembly prevents the untightening of the axle nut which holds the bicycle wheel in place on the bicycle frame.

Lever Arm Lock For Quick Release Hub Assembly

US Patent:
4028915, Jun 14, 1977
Filed:
Feb 17, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/658541
Inventors:
Michael A. Stahl - Miami Beach FL
Assignee:
Far Out Products Ltd. - Hollywood FL
International Classification:
B62K 2500, B62K 2502
US Classification:
70233
Abstract:
A lever arm lock for a conventional quick-release hub assembly includes a cover mountable to a first skewer rod end nut supporting a quick-release lever arm. The cover is secured to the end nut with a locking mechanism (combination, magnetic, key, etc. ) and maintains the lever arm in a locked position making it impossible to remove the hub. A second skewer rod end nut opposite the first end nut is formed with a substantially smooth outer surface that is continuously inclined with respect to the axle. This surface configuration prevents removal of the locked hub assembly by turning the second end nut with a pliers or other tool. The lever arm lock also prevents the hub from being jarred loose on impact with curbs, rocks, etc. The end nut assemblies have extensions which abut the frame thereby preventing loosening thereof for unauthorized removal.
