Abstract:
A retention device for anchoring indwelling catheters, sheath introducers or other medical devices beneath the skin of a patient includes an anchoring mechanism loaded into an anchor sleeve that is attached to an inserted medical device; following insertion into a patient, deploying the device causes the tines of the anchoring mechanism to be extended from the device, thus anchoring the device and any attached medical device securely beneath the patients skin.
