US Patent:
2007026, Nov 8, 2007
Filed:
Mar 29, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/693469
Inventors:
Michael Hahn - Oklahoma City OK, US
Erik Emstad - St. Paul MN, US
Steven Seme - Savage MN, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/60, A61F 5/00
US Classification:
606102000, 606086000
Abstract:
A sizing instrument for measuring a bodily joint bounded by top and bottom surfaces, such as a disc space bounded by a top vertebra and a bottom vertebra, including a jaw assembly, a handle assembly, and an indicator portion. The jaw assembly includes an upper contact pad and a lower contact pad. The upper pad is adapted to substantially rigidly engage the top surface, and the lower pad is adapted to substantially rigidly engage the bottom surface. The handle assembly is linked to the jaw assembly and is adapted to vary a distance between the upper contact pad and the lower contact pad. In turn, the indicator portion is adapted to communicate the distance between the upper contact pad and the lower contact pad.

11/385300
Inventors:
Michael Hahn - Oklahoma City OK, US
International Classification:
A61M 1/00
US Classification:
604035000
Abstract:
A surgical suction device which includes a first tubular section with a first inlet end and a first outlet end. The first tubular section has a variable inside diameter which continuously expands from the first inlet end to the first outlet end. A curved tubular section is connected to the first outlet end, and the curved tubular section has a second inlet end and a second outlet end. The curved tubular section further includes a second inside diameter which extends from the second inlet end to the second outlet end, where the second inside diameter is approximately constant from the second inlet end to the second outlet end. The second inside diameter is also not less than the variable inside diameter at the first outlet end.

Method And Apparatus For Draining Fluid From An Organism

US Patent:
8398613, Mar 19, 2013
Filed:
Jan 24, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/019516
Inventors:
Michael R. Hahn - Oklahoma City OK, US
International Classification:
A61M 27/00
US Classification:
604541, 60410101, 60410103, 60410105, 604528, 60410201, 604540, 606192, 606194
Abstract:
A surgical drain and method for using the same. The surgical drain comprises a first end, which may be sized for placement within an organism. The first end features a plurality of segments, each labeled with an alphanumeric character. The first end may be cut at a line between two of the segments. The alphanumeric character at the terminal end of the first end after cutting is recorded prior to placing the drain within the organism. When removing the drain, the recorded alphanumeric character is compared with the character at a terminal end of the first end of the surgical drain. Thus, a treating professional can ensure that no portion of the surgical drain is left within the wound, preventing infection due to a foreign object left within the organism.
