Assignee:
NexPress Solutions LLC - Rochester NY
International Classification:
G03G 1508
US Classification:
399104, 399 98, 399103, 399119, 399258
Abstract:
A magnetic brush development station for a reproduction apparatus. The magnetic brush development station includes a housing forming, at least in part, a reservoir for developer material. The reservoir has a pressure equalization seal. A mechanism is associated with the housing for readily moving the housing relative to the reproduction apparatus. Another mechanism selectively readily replenishes and/or empties at least one component of developer material with respect to the reservoir. A plurality of augers are located in the housing for mixing developer material within the reservoir. A drive for the augers, extending through the housing, has a seal therefor. A development roller, mounted within the housing, delivers developer material from the reservoir to a development zone. The development roller includes a core magnet inside a shell such that the core magnet and the shell having relative rotation. The core magnet extends less than the entire length of the development roller such that the developer nap on the shell does not extend to the end of the development roller.

Development Station For A Reproduction Apparatus

US Patent:
6480689, Nov 12, 2002
Filed:
Jan 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/050007
Inventors:
Michael E. Jacobs - Rochester NY
Assignee:
NexPress Solutions LLC - Rochester NY
International Classification:
G03G 1508
US Classification:
399256, 366297
Abstract:
A magnetic brush development station including a housing forming, at least in part, a reservoir for developer material. A development roller is mounted within the housing for delivering developer material from the reservoir to a development zone. A plurality of rotatable augers are located in the housing for mixing developer material within the reservoir, and are arranged substantially side-by-side with respective parallel longitudinal axes, the most outboard of the plurality of augers being positioned to be raised and toward the center with respect to the housing of the development station. Accordingly the overall width of the development station is reduced while maintaining centerline distances between each of the plurality of augers so that individual augers do not interfere with one another.

Corona Wire Handling Device

US Patent:
5672871, Sep 30, 1997
Filed:
Feb 29, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/609073
Inventors:
Michael E. Jacobs - Rochester NY
John W. May - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Eastman Kodak Company - Rochester NY
International Classification:
H01J 1904
US Classification:
250324
Abstract:
A device for handling corona charger wires in order to facilitate the placement of wires within the housing of the corona charger. The corona wire handling device includes a substantially rectangular frame, the frame having opposed long side members and opposed short side members. The long side members of the rectangular frame are readily separable from the short side members thereof. A mechanism, associated with the rectangular frame, is provided for supporting an intermediate portion of at least one corona wire on the frame. Further, a mechanism is provided for controlling tension on the corona wire induced by the corona wire intermediate support mechanism. Accordingly, when the rectangular frame is associated with the corona charger for placement of a corona wire operatively therein and the tension control mechanism is activated, tension increase in the corona wire induced by insertion of the corona wire in the corona charger is controlled to balance wire tension in order to prevent corona wire damage or breakage. Thereafter, the long side members of the rectangular frame are separated from the short side members to enable removal of excess portions of the rectangular frame and the wire supporting mechanism.

A development roller is mounted within the housing for delivering developer material from the reservoir to a development zone. The development roller includes a core magnet inside a shell, having relative rotation. The core magnet extends less than the entire length of the development roller such that a developer nap on the shell does not extend to the respective ends. A metering skive controls the quantity of developer material delivered from the reservoir. A metering skive is positioned parallel to a longitudinal axis of the development roller at a location upstream in the direction of shell rotation prior to the development zone. A magnetic seal is located in association with the skive at each end to substantially prevent leakage of developer material.
