Skills:
During my 20+ years in the military I gained much experience as a manager of large groups of people and resources. An example of this ability would be my former position as USAF alert facility manager, where I was given the overall responsible for all alert aircraft, crews, fleet of alert response trucks, buildings and security within that extensive complex. Returning to college following my USAF career, my management interest and skillls were expanded through my position as the volunteer to the director of the nationally renown writter's conference, for 4 years. Utilizing my people skills, I was given the oppurtunity, and was successful at recruiting nationally known authors to participate in this annual conference. During my time as a student teacher I was also able to recruite an internationally know and respected author to be the guest lecture for a school wide symposium, which was covered by the local newspaper and the university press. While attending and graduating from the USAF Noncomissioned Officer's Academy, I was awarde the class speaker's award. I have a extreamly uncanny ability to meet people and build a honest and strong rapport with almost anyone, at any place, situation or time. Further, I possess a very high level of emotional intelligence, and a internal compass which rarely fails to provide me with intutive information and direction. Additionally, I have a talent and skill, which almost all animals domestic and wild seem to find radiates trust, safety and acceptance. As a member of the military, I have participated in the recovery of human remains under hostile conditions, and been able to maintain my calm center, function with respect and efficency. My people skills have been highly polished during the past 10+ years as a mental health therapist providing couples, family, youth and grief counseling services to hundreds of clients from a wide diversity of social and economic backgrounds. As a member of the military and later as a civilian I have traveled abroad extensively, and have developed a core knowledge of other cultures, social structures, and belief systems. I am not a mechanic, however I have bought, owned, and sold 68 cars/trucks over the years. This was done in part, because I love cars and trucks, so buying them, performing some limited reconditioning, and then selling them when I found some other car or truck that was more interesting, became a way to finance my "hobby" and expand my knowledge.
