Tape Dispenser With Cutter

Tape Dispenser With Cutter

US Patent:
2009028, Nov 19, 2009
Filed:
May 19, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/152984
Inventors:
Jeffrey M. Jones - Tigard OR, US
Michael D. Jones - Tigard OR, US
International Classification:
B26D 7/06
US Classification:
834365
Abstract:
A dispenser for dispensing material includes a dispenser housing having a material track therein. A dispenser/cutter mechanism contained within the housing includes a trigger handle for activating the dispenser/cutter mechanism. The trigger handle is spring-biased to a non-compressed position, and is shiftable to a tape-cutting position and to a compressed position. A dispensing roller is activated by the trigger handle. A dispensing pawl is operatively located between the trigger handle and the dispenser roller, and the material is trained over the dispenser roller and is moved thereover by the action of the trigger handle. An anti-rebound pawl holds the dispensing roller in a fixed position when the trigger handle is moved to its compressed position. A cam-activated cutting blade is activated by the trigger handle when the trigger handle is moved to its tape-cutting position.

Polarization Controller For Use In Optical Fiber Communication System

Polarization Controller For Use In Optical Fiber Communication System

US Patent:
4979235, Dec 18, 1990
Filed:
Apr 17, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/339281
Inventors:
Scott H. Rumbaugh - Lake Oswego OR
Michael D. Jones - Portland OR
Philip J. Bos - Beaverton OR
Assignee:
Tektronix, Inc. - Beaverton OR
International Classification:
H04B 1006
US Classification:
455616
Abstract:
A state-of-polarization (SOP) control system (10) uses a SOP controller (28) that is responsive to a CPU (24) to perform endless and complete polarization signal detection for a fiber optic communication system. The SOP controller (28) comprises liquid crystal variable optical retarders (40, 42 and 44) that adjust the polarization state of local optical signal (36) in response to voltages provided by the CPU (24). The CPU (24) adjusts the voltage applied to the retarders (40, 42, and 44) separately in response to the magnitude of an interference signal (70), which corresponds to the degree to which the polarization of the local optical signal (36) and an input optical signal (12) are different.

Printer Print Head Positioning Apparatus And Method

Printer Print Head Positioning Apparatus And Method

US Patent:
5608430, Mar 4, 1997
Filed:
Sep 2, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/300020
Inventors:
Michael E. Jones - Portland OR
Randy C. Karambelas - Milwaukie OR
Assignee:
Tektronix, Inc. - Wilsonville OR
International Classification:
B41J 25308
US Classification:
347 8
Abstract:
A print head (216) tilt angle positioner (258) includes a scroll cam (344), a tilt arm (332), a flexure (334), a tilt angle adjuster (336), and a biasing spring (338). The tilt arm and the print head are attached to a shaft (220) that rotates the tilt arm and the print head together between printing, maintenance, and shipping tilt angle positions to control the distance of the print head from the image receiving drum.

Color Image Copying System

Color Image Copying System

US Patent:
4739374, Apr 19, 1988
Filed:
Feb 27, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/019982
Inventors:
David L. Mead - Sherwood OR
Paul A. McManus - Sherwood OR
Donald R. Titterington - Tualatin OR
Joern B. Eriksen - Oregon City OR
Michael D. Jones - Portland OR
Assignee:
Tektronix, Inc. - Beaverton OR
International Classification:
G03B 2754, G03B 2772
US Classification:
355 67
Abstract:
A color image copying system (10) includes a light modulator (12) that receives incident light rays emanating from a source (14) of light. The light modulator comprises a light dispersing apparatus (54) that disperses different wavelengths of the incident light rays to different locations on a focal surface (60). A filter mask (68) aligned with the focal surface transmits preselected wavelengths of the ultraviolet light and blocks light of all other wavelengths. Each of a set of light valves (86, 88, 90) receives a different wavelength of light transmitted by the filter mask and intensity modulates it in accordance with image pixel information provided by an information source (16). An optical focusing apparatus (56) focuses the intensity-modulated wavelengths of light to a relatively small location (20) on an image focal surface (22) which is aligned with a light-sensitive medium (24). The light focused at the location exposes the light-sensitive medium to each of the wavelengths of light for a particular period of time determined by the image pixel information.

Interleaving Image Deposition Method

Interleaving Image Deposition Method

US Patent:
5949452, Sep 7, 1999
Filed:
Nov 27, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/757366
Inventors:
Michael E. Jones - Portland OR
Assignee:
Tektronix, Inc. - Wilsonville OR
International Classification:
B41J 207, B41J 2938
US Classification:
347 41
Abstract:
A method for depositing an image on a receiving surface utilizing two scans of a print head is provided. Each scan deposits a portion of the image, and the two scans are separated by a non-deposition skip move. The two image portions are joined at a seam to create a composite image. By utilizing identical print head motions along the x-axis direction for all images, this method allows for accurate and repeatable image-half alignment regardless of image width, length or position on the receiving surface.

Method For Calibrating Position Of A Printed Image On A Final Receiving Substrate

Method For Calibrating Position Of A Printed Image On A Final Receiving Substrate

US Patent:
5864774, Jan 26, 1999
Filed:
Aug 26, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/918463
Inventors:
Michael E. Jones - Portland OR
Assignee:
Tektronix, Inc. - Wilsonville OR
International Classification:
G06F 1576
US Classification:
702 94
Abstract:
A method for calibrating a printer or other imaging system to accurately place an image on a final receiving substrate is provided. A test image is printed and the margins between the image and the edges of the media are measured. These measured margin values are then utilized to adjust stored calibration factors that calibrate the printer to accurately place the image on the final receiving substrate.

Print Head Positioner Mechanism

Print Head Positioner Mechanism

US Patent:
6042217, Mar 28, 2000
Filed:
Jul 25, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/900496
Inventors:
Michael E. Jones - Portland OR
Assignee:
Tektronic, Inc. - Wilsonville OR
International Classification:
B41J 2165
US Classification:
347 32
Abstract:
A print head positioner includes a tilt mechanism that selectively engages and moves a carriage supporting the print head when the print head and supporting carriage are in a home position. The print head positioner is uncoupled from the carriage X-axis drive mechanism during imaging to avoid extraneous loading on the mechanism. The positioner includes interlocks to prevent inadvertent disengagement from the carriage during tilting and to restrict print head tilting when the carriage is away from the home position.
