Integrated Hydraulic Mount For Active Vibration Control System

US Patent:
5423523, Jun 13, 1995
Filed:
Apr 9, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/506202
Inventors:
William E. Gossman - Silver Spring MD
Michael J. Burke - Annapolis MD
Assignee:
Noise Cancellation Technologies, Inc. - Linthicum MD
International Classification:
F16F 950, F16M 1300
US Classification:
26714015
Abstract:
An actively controlled mount system to control vibration which permits static forces from a machine while decoupling the transmission of dynamic vibrational forces. The mount system provides a reduction of force losses from a first generating area to a second force applying area to actively control vibrations of a vibrating element. These force losses are minimized due to minimization of the mass and velocity of fluid pumped by pumping the fluid through short large cross-sectional area passageways. The device provides for channeling of the forces to the vibrating element in a uniaxial direction and constrains the application of forces in non-working directions.

Piezoelectric Driven Flow Modulator

US Patent:
5493615, Feb 20, 1996
Filed:
May 26, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/067277
Inventors:
Michael J. Burke - Annapolis MD
George W. Tye - Sykesville MD
Assignee:
Noise Cancellation Technologies - Linthicum MD
International Classification:
G10K 1116
US Classification:
381 71
Abstract:
An elliptically shaped flow modulator in a duct with a circular cross section is used to produce a time varying head loss in a steady fluid flow in the duct, which results in an unsteady volume velocity at the end of the duct which radiates an acoustic field; the flow modulator can be used in place of a conventional acoustic source in an active noise control system.

Dual Chambered, Active Vibration Damper With Reactive Force Producing Pistons

US Patent:
5332203, Jul 26, 1994
Filed:
Mar 8, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/028898
Inventors:
William E. Gossman - Silver Spring MD
Michael J. Burke - Annapolis MD
Assignee:
Noise Cancellation Technologies, Inc. - Linthicum MD
International Classification:
F16F 950, F16M 1300
US Classification:
26714015
Abstract:
An actively controlled mount system to control vibration which permits static forces from a machine while decoupling transmission of dynamic vibration forces. The mount system includes opposed force chamber (156, 160) with pistons which control movement of an engine connected bushing (3) to allow compensatory force generated by the opposed chambers to transfer thereto to attenuate vibration from the engine.

Industrial Headset

US Patent:
5604813, Feb 18, 1997
Filed:
May 2, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/236848
Inventors:
Robert D. Evans - Baltimore MD
John Roeder - Baltimore MD
Michael J. Burke - Annapolis MD
George W. Tye - Sykesville MD
William J. Hoge - Westminster MD
Assignee:
Noise Cancellation Technologies, Inc. - Linthicum MD
International Classification:
A61F 1106
US Classification:
381 71
Abstract:
This invention relates to the various features of a headset design that utilizes active noise cancellation. This particular design has been developed to work with radio communication systems, but many features are applicable to headsets designed solely for ear protection. The unique design features of the invention allow for uninterrupted communication capability with active noise cancellation. The design also provides it own built in rechargeable power supply that is easily removed for recharging.
