A method of acquiring, processing and transmitting acoustic energy data comprising: utilizing a sensor for acoustic energy to convert analogue signals into an electrical output; converting said electrical output to digital data; processing said digital data by use of a processing unit; initiating transmission of said digital data over a wireless network; and supplying electrical current to said processing unit through a battery.
