Method Of Aligning Scroll Compressor Components

US Patent:
6488489, Dec 3, 2002
Filed:
Feb 26, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/793369
Inventors:
John R. Williams - Bristol VA
Joe T. Hill - Bristol VA
Gene M. Fields - Arkadelphia AR
Tracy Milliff - Bristol VA
Michael R. Young - Wichita KS
Assignee:
Scroll Technologies - Arkadelphia AR
International Classification:
F04C 1804
US Classification:
418 551, 29888022, 384276, 384295
Abstract:
An improved method of aligning the bearing components within a scroll compressor includes the step of mounting the crankcase to be an interference fit within the center shell, and having a surface abutting a true upper surface of the shell. This ensures that the axis of the bearing in the crankcase is idealized and centered on the center axis of the center shell. At the same time, the lower bearing is mounted on the lower end cap, and is also cut to be concentric with a force fit outer surface of the end cap. This ensures the lower bearing is also centered on the inner periphery of the center shell. Once it is ensured the center shell is true, then it is also thus ensured the upper and lower bearings are aligned on a common axis. An improved lower bearing structure with a reverse taper is also disclosed.

Carrier For Golf Clubs Or The Like

US Patent:
5314079, May 24, 1994
Filed:
Mar 9, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/028310
Inventors:
Michael R. Young - Wichita KS
International Classification:
A63B 5500
US Classification:
211 702
Abstract:
An elongated carrier for golf clubs or the like having a longitudinal axis and adapted for substantially upright positioning on the ground, the carrier having upper, intermediate and lower supports, a plurality of substantially round tubular holders of semi-rigid plastic material, held in fixed, substantially parallel, juxtaposed relationship by the supports with the bottom ends thereof being affixed to the lower support, the lower support providing a floor for the holders the ends of which lie substantially in the same plane on the floor which is oriented substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the carrier, a plurality of spikes affixed to the lower support and extending substantially axially and outwardly therefrom and adapted to penetrate into the ground to support the carrier in a substantially upright posture, and a handle affixed to the upper support and extending generally longitudinally of the carrier and outwardly from the outer surface of the upper support, the handle having a hand grip segment oriented at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of from about 5. degree. to about 35. degree. , the grip segment being positioned slightly forward of the center of gravity of the carrier in its loaded condition and thus adapted to lie substantially horizontally when the carrier is being supported by the hand of a user and is at an upwardly tilted attitude.

Golf Ball Carrier With Golf Ball Release Tab

US Patent:
8360236, Jan 29, 2013
Filed:
Jul 27, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/844032
Inventors:
Michael Young - Wichita KS, US
Gordon Arthur Young - Wichita KS, US
Richard Bloomer - Clearwater KS, US
International Classification:
B65D 85/00
US Classification:
2063159, 294 192, 221307, 221199
Abstract:
A ball carrier having a hollow tubular support member for holding a plurality of balls stacked axially therein and a ball release tab configured to release one ball at a time from an open end of the hollow tubular support member. The ball release tab may have a first stopper portion, a second stopper portion, and a manipulation portion. The ball release tab may be biased in a first position in which the first stopper portion impedes exit of the balls and may be actuated via the manipulation portion to a second position in which the first portion is rotated away from the balls and the second stopper portion impedes exit of the balls. When the ball release tab moves from the second position to the first position, the second stopper portion rotates away from the balls, allowing the ball resting on the second stopper portion to drop out of the ball carrier, while the first stopper portion rotates back toward the balls, impeding the next ball from dropping out of the ball carrier.
