Joe Saupe Award for Best First-Time Presenter
Mid-America Association for Institutional Research
This award was created in honor of Joe Saupe, Emeritus Professor of Education at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Joe was one of the founding members of both AIR and MidAIR and has been a role model for many institutional researchers. Among his many publications, he authored one of the seminal documents of the field, The Functions of Institutional Research. The Joe Saupe Award is an honorary award initially given to Joe in recognition of his years of participation in and contributions to MidAIR. Subsequently, it has been awarded to first-time presenters at MidAIR to acknowledge the quality of their presentation, and as an encouragement to other newcomers to the field of IR to present at future MidAIR conferences.
2012 Best of 417 Editor's Picks: Best Shop with a Heart
417 Magazine
5 Pound Apparel was selected as a Best of 417 Editor's Pick with the following explanation: "This store sells a variety of great gift ideas and clothing items, but they all come with a little something extra: A bit of philanthropic feel-good. That’s because the shop donates a portion of the sales of its clothing line, so that the company can help send nutritional peanut butter to kids who are suffering from malnutrition. When we go in and eye a wooden iPhone case or a clever T-shirt, we can shop it up without feeling any guilt. We know a little bit of our money is going to a good cause."
