Catalyst And Process For Oligomerization Of Ethylene
US Patent:
4628138, Dec 9, 1986
Filed:
Sep 20, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/778143
Inventors:
Kenneth W. Barnett - Worthington OH Mary J. Brown - Columbus OH
Assignee:
Ashland Oil, Inc. - Columbus OH
International Classification:
C07C 202
US Classification:
585531
Abstract:
An improved heterogeneous catalyst effective to catalyze the oligomerization of ethylene is formed by hydrogenating bis(. eta. sup. 5 -cyclopentadienyl) nickel (nickelocene) onto an omega zeolite support in the presence of a small, but effective amount of a promoter. The promoters are oxides of nickel, iron or copper and mixtures thereof. The catalyst is particularly effective in terms of selectivity and reactivity in catalyzing the formation of 1-butene from ethylene.
