Abstract:
A process for preparing extrudates of alumina monohydrate having densities, surface areas and pore volumes within a predetermined range by mixing the alumina with a sufficient quantity of water to prepare an extrudable product and aging this product for a period of 1/2 to 6 hours. The alumina is then extruded and the extrudates dried using conventional techniques. The alumina is primarily used as a base for auto exhaust conversion catalysts.
