Leak Detection Enhancing Insert For An Airbag Inflator Assembly

Leak Detection Enhancing Insert For An Airbag Inflator Assembly

US Patent:
2002011, Aug 22, 2002
Filed:
Feb 21, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/790433
Inventors:
Martin Neunzert - Ogden UT, US
Kerry Walker - Perry UT, US
International Classification:
B60R021/26
US Classification:
280/736000, 280/728300
Abstract:
An inflator is provided that can reduce the occurrence of virtual and masked leaks in inflator testing. The inflator may have an outer wall surrounding a main internal compartment containing compressed inflation gases. Additionally, the inflator may have a pyrotechnic assembly containing a generant, or pyrotechnic material, and an initiator configured to ignite the pyrotechnic material upon receipt of an electric signal from a vehicle's electrical system. The initiator may be separated from the pyrotechnic material, and from the compressed gases, by a pressure dome that effectively creates a cavity around the initiator. The initiator may be accessible to outside contact through an opening in the outer wall. An insert may be positioned around the initiator to control flows of gas leaving the cavity through the opening. Thus, during testing, residual gases within the cavity are able to escape the inflator within a predictable time period, so that the inflator can reliably be checked for gases exiting the main internal compartment. The insert may have a porous design so that gases escape from the cavity at a controlled rate during testing, but are unable to escape in any destructive manner during ignition of the pyrotechnic material.

High-Strength, Lightweigh Blow-Molded Plastic Table Tops

US Patent:
2007012, Jun 7, 2007
Filed:
Feb 5, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/671385
Inventors:
Martin Neunzert - Ogden UT, US
Ed Vannimwegen - North Ogden UT, US
Curtis Cook - Fruit Heights UT, US
L. Strong - Clearfield UT, US
Barry Mower - Layton UT, US
International Classification:
A47B 3/00
US Classification:
108132000
Abstract:
Blow molded plastic structures are provided for use in various structures such as, but not limited to, tables, chairs, walls, backboards, storage bins, sports equipment and the like. The blow molded plastic structure has a first surface and a second surface extending between a first end and a second end and forming a chamber there between. A plurality of depressions is formed on the second surface and extends into the chamber. The depressions are usually unitary structures formed by a depression wall. Generally, the steeper the depression wall, the more strength is provided to the structure. In addition, where the plurality of depressions has a low profile and a greater density, increased strength is provided to the structure. The depressions may or may not be joined to the first surface.

Jun 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/873777
Inventors:
Martin Neunzert - Ogden UT, US
Thayne Haney - Syracuse UT, US
Robert Astle - Farmington UT, US
L. Strong - Clearfield UT, US
International Classification:

Abstract:
A slotted brace may be used, for example, to connect a table leg to a table and the slotted brace may allow the table leg to be moved between a collapsed position and an extended position relative to the table. The slotted brace may include a body with an elongated slot and a guide at least partially disposed within the elongated slot. The slotted brace may also include a first position in which the table leg is retained in a generally fixed position relative to the table top and a second position in which the table leg is movable relative to the table. A cover may be connected to the slotted brace and the cover may include an indicator that is sized and configured to indicate to a user that a force should be applied to the indicated portion to allow the slotted brace to be released from the first position and into the second position to allow the table leg to be moved relative to the table. The cover may also include a second indicator that may indicate, for example, a pivotal connection of the slotted brace to the table or table leg.
