There are literally hundreds of counseling approaches ranging from basic active listening and a solution focus, to some crazy and unethical approaches with no evidence for efficacy. In general, it is wise to seek a well-trained and qualified counselor whose approach is primarily determined not by what they do but by what you need. At New Leaf Center, we attempt to guide our treatment model around your needs. We try to find the key to fit your lock, instead of having your lock fit our key. We believe in the client and the clients ability to change. Our goal at New Leaf Center is to use the most appropriate counseling approach based upon the presenting concern, the needs of the client, therapeutic opportunities and limitations, and what research has shown as most efficacious. Effective counseling is based upon ongoing clarity of expectations and shared responsibility. We are empathic, accepting, non-blaming, and non-judgmental.
