Assignee:
MMC/GATX Partnership No. 1 - Lafayette CA
International Classification:
A61N 134
US Classification:
607 46, 607 72
Abstract:
An electro-nerve stimulator system includes a pulse generator for generating current pulses with a transcutaneous patch and percutaneous needle for delivering current pulses to selected stimulation sites. The stimulator is a small battery operated external device that allows adjustment of stimulation levels and interfaces, via a connector, to the trans-percutaneous cable. The transcutaneous electrode is attached to the skin distal from the desired stimulated nerve site. A percutaneous needle is inserted close to the internal nerve site. Stimulation current pulses are designed to flow between the transcutaneous electrode and the internal percutaneous needle. The field generated at the needle site causes the nerve to fire.

Universal Tube Connector

US Patent:
5257832, Nov 2, 1993
Filed:
May 7, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/880217
Inventors:
Cu N. Phan - San Francisco CA
Marshall L. Stoller - San Francisco CA
Assignee:
The Regents of the University of California - Oakland CA
International Classification:
F16L 2500
US Classification:
285177
Abstract:
The invention relates generally to connecting tubes for medical use. A connector (1) having a conical hollow body (2) and a pierceable sealing diaphragm (10) is attached to a flexible tail portion (12) comprised of two co-operating adhesive-coated strips (24/26). The adhesive on inner surfaces (20) of the strips is protected by peel-away coverings (14) prior to use. In use, a medical tube (16) is introduced into the body through an end (6) and through the sealing diaphragm. The adhesive strips contact the tube to further secure it to the body. Another device, such as a second tube or a drainage bag, connects to the other end (4) of the body.
