International Classification:
A61F 2/42
US Classification:
623 2118
Abstract:
In order to position an ankle prosthesis including a tibial implant and a talus implant provided with a talo-calcaneal anchoring keel, the invention proposes a surgical instrumentation assembly including: a tibial phantom () of the tibial implant, adapted so as to be attached to the tibia (T) of a patient, and an aiming guide () adapted for setting into place an instrumentation element () through the talus (A) and the calcaneus (C) of the patient, along an axis (Z-Z) for implanting the talo-calcaneal anchoring keel, the tibial phantom and the aiming guide mechanically cooperating with each other to restrict movement of the tibial phantom and the aiming guide relative to each other along vertical and medio-lateral directions, wherein the aiming guide is configured to guide placement of the instrumentation element.

Foot/Ankle Implant And Associated Method

US Patent:
2009013, May 28, 2009
Filed:
Jul 2, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/166382
Inventors:
Mark S. Myerson - Baltimore MD, US
Paul J. D'Antonio - Morristown NJ, US
Lisa C. Thompson - Riegelsville PA, US
John Sharobiem - Freehold NJ, US
Joseph M. Hernandez - Torrance CA, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/66, A61B 19/00
US Classification:
623 54, 128898
Abstract:
A foot/ankle implant anatomically-shaped for implantation between two bone portions of the foot or ankle to correct associated deformities. The foot/ankle implant has a peripheral wall surrounding a central bore therethrough and defining an annular cross-section. The wall is constructed from a composite material that includes a ceramic component and a polymer component. The ceramic component is gradually resorbed after implantation, and the polymeric component gradually degrades after implantation.

Implant Device With Placement Indicia

Implant Device With Placement Indicia

US Patent:
2008001, Jan 17, 2008
Filed:
Jun 19, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/455345
Inventors:
Roy W. Sanders - Tampa FL, US
Mark S. Myerson - Baltimore MD, US
Priya R. Prasad - Warsaw IN, US
Assignee:
DePuy Products, Inc. - Warsaw IN
International Classification:
A61F 2/30
US Classification:
606 69
Abstract:
An implant having alignment indicia is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the implant is generally elongated and comprises a first end portion and a second end portion with a plurality of fixation holes formed therein. The first end portion is configured for attachment to a bone on a first side of an anatomical feature found in the patient's body. The second end portion is configured for attachment to a bone on a second side of the anatomical feature. The implant further comprises a contoured perimeter. Alignment indicia are formed in the perimeter between the first end portion and the second end portion. The alignment indicia are configured to indicate proper positioning of the bone plate on the at least one bone with respect to the anatomical feature. The alignment indicia may comprise, for example, protrusions or indentations formed in the perimeter of the bone plate.
