System For Remediating A Wellbore Annulus

US Patent:
2012009, Apr 26, 2012
Filed:
Oct 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/910191
Inventors:
James J. Howell - Houston TX, US
Mahesha Udipi - Houston TX, US
Mark Viator - Houston TX, US
Eugene Borak - Houston TX, US
David Comeaux - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
VETCO GRAY INC. - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 29/10, E21B 19/22
US Classification:
166277, 166 771
Abstract:
A casing annulus remediation hose assembly having a hose with an inlet in selective fluid communication with a fluid supply and an exit connected to a nozzle. On the nozzle is an insertion tip for facilitating insertion and retrieval of the hose assembly in and out of an annulus in a wellhead assembly. The insertion tip has an outer annular flexible housing that is coaxially attached to the nozzle and spherical weighted members arranged in series in the housing. A cable extends coaxially from a downstream end of the nozzle and through each weighted member.

Apparatus And Method For Backseating A Gate Valve

US Patent:
2014000, Jan 2, 2014
Filed:
Jun 28, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/536432
Inventors:
Alfred Olvera - Houston TX, US
Mahesha Udipi - Houston TX, US
Mark A. Viator - Houston TX, US
Jim Hwang - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
VETCO GRAY INC. - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 34/08, E21B 34/06, F16K 41/00
US Classification:
166373, 251330, 251329, 166 971
Abstract:
A valve assembly for use in regulating a fracturing fluid that includes an actuating stem for actuating a gate, a balancing stem, and a backseat on the stem that defines a backseat seal when urged against a profile in the valve assembly. The backseat seal is energized by applying a force to an end of the balancing stem. An end of the balancing stem is enclosed within a plenum, so that the force on an end of the balancing stem can be applied by pressurizing the plenum. The assembly can be on an opposite side of the valve body/bonnet to create a backseat seal on a balancing stem/bonnet to allow changing the stem packing on the balance stem side while maintaining pressure integrity.

Lock Assembly For Hydraulic Fracing Valve

US Patent:
2013014, Jun 13, 2013
Filed:
Dec 9, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/316097
Inventors:
Mahesha Udipi - Houston TX, US
Raymond Krolczyk - Houston TX, US
Mark Viator - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
VETCO GRAY INC. - Houston TX
International Classification:
F16K 35/00
US Classification:
137383
Abstract:
A lock open device for use with a valve in a hydraulic fracturing system, which maintains the valve in an open position. The lock open device includes a plate with beveled edges and spring loaded ball bearings strategically disposed to contact the edges and interfere with axial movement of the plate. The plate couples to a gate member in the valve, so that the interference between the plate and the ball bearings maintains the valve in a designated open or closed position. The angle of the bevel regulates how much force is required to urge the plate past the ball bearings to thereby open/close the valve.
