Abstract:
Otitis is treated with a combination of a controlled-release iodine preparation and a pH-lowering preparation. This prevents or delays the onset of antibiotic resistance among causative bacteria and fungi, and, by inhibiting protease activity, improves the rate of healing, and prevents bacteria from spreading into the temporal bone.
