Inventors:
Marinus Bernard Bosma - Tipp City OH, US
International Classification:
A45C 3/00, B65D 85/00
US Classification:
190108, 190110, 206320
Abstract:
An X-ray-permeable bag is provided with a hinged compartment attached to a wheeled trolley bag by a zippered hinge in side-by-side relationship but are spread horizontally about said hinge for edge-to-edge placement on a conveyor belt so as to allow separate X-ray inspection of the compartments without content removal. In its preferred form, the bag permits separate scanning of a laptop computer and the rest of the bags contents by utilizing a method that reduces the time required to perform an inspection while maintaining the integrity of the inspection process. Additionally, the zippered hinge allows the compartments to be separated so that they may be transported independently.

Load-Bearing Rail And Floor System Having Slotted Rails Embedded In Concrete For The Reception Of Machine Mounts Or Railcar Wheels

US Patent:
5503082, Apr 2, 1996
Filed:
Aug 29, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/296904
Inventors:
Marinus B. Bosma - Tipp City OH
Assignee:
Bosma Machine & Tool Corporation - Tipp City OH
International Classification:
B61B 100
US Classification:
104 29
Abstract:
A concrete-embedded, machinery-anchoring floor system includes parallel, accurately-extruded steel rails each having a unique cross-sectional configuration. Vertical loading of the rails improves the load-bearing strength of the concrete, whether the loading is in tension or compression. Each rail includes a pair of spaced angularly-extending, outwardly and downwardly-projecting flanges. When a downward compressive load is applied through the rails from above, the load also applies downward and inward force vectors generally perpendicular to the angular flanges, compressing concrete therebetween. If tension is applied to a rail from a cantilevered load, the angular flanges are fulcrumed toward each other about their connecting joints with the rail, also compressing and strengthening concrete therebetween. The angular flanges are rounded at their distal edges to enable supporting and interconnecting reinforcing bars to be easily welded to the rounded edges, irrespective of the angle of the bars to the edges. Precision of the supporting surface of the rail system is maintained by providing a unitary floor construction through use of interconnecting welded reinforcing bars and a wire mesh supported on the bars above the bottom of the concrete slab.

Medication Container And Method Of Using

US Patent:
5899335, May 4, 1999
Filed:
Jul 7, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/889057
Inventors:
Mildred E. Boyer - Tipp City OH
Marinus B. Bosma - Tipp City OH
International Classification:
B65D 8304
US Classification:
206538
Abstract:
A container for medications, written instructions and other materials is provided for an individual whose cognitive powers may be diminished and who must take several medications or doses at different times of a day. The container takes the annular array form of a clock face with hourly positions having either or both visual and/or Braille indicia. Each hourly position has a separate lid-covered compartment for placement therein of medications or instructions to be taken within designated hours. The containers are provided in pairs, one being designated for ante meridiem hours and the other for post meridiem hours. They may be alternately arranged coaxially with a clock having either an hour hand or a blocking shutter, the latter of which insures that only the lid of a given compartment is accessible at the designated time for taking a specific medication. Pairs of containers sufficient for a week's medications can be organized, filled and stacked for successive use. The system enables monitoring by a care giver to assure that medications have been taken.

Method And Apparatus For Producing A Radially And Circularly Contoured Surface

US Patent:
5477602, Dec 26, 1995
Filed:
Aug 29, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/296903
Inventors:
Marinus B. Bosma - Tipp City OH
Assignee:
Bosma Machine & Tool Corporation - Tipp City OH
International Classification:
B23P 1302, B23C 316
US Classification:
29428
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for the production of panels for a large segmented parabolic telescope reflector, using a simple adaptation of a technique common to a lathe. The reflective surface of each panel is contoured both radially and circularly by oscillating a platen supporting the panel about a fixed axis relative to a tool which is fixed during platen oscillation. The tool is repositionable between oscillations along an x axis to achieve the radial contour and along a z axis to achieve the desired parabolic or spherical contour. Contrary to the normal contouring of such a surface with a 5-axis CNC machine, tool positioning along either axis is independent of tool location along the other axis, simplifying the machine structure as well as its computerized operation. A unique hinge is provided to restrain the platen in a radial direction while allowing floating action of the platen on an air cushion during its oscillation.

Drive Unit For A Monorail Carrier

US Patent:
4945780, Aug 7, 1990
Filed:
Apr 10, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/335562
Inventors:
Marinus A. Bosma - Tipp City OH
Assignee:
Bosma Machine and Tool Corporation - Tipp City OH
International Classification:
F16H 508
US Classification:
743375
Abstract:
A housing supports input and output shafts disposed at right angles, and the shafts are connected by a set of reduction gears and a spring biased clutch sleeve splined to the output shaft for axial movement. An electric motor is flange mounted on the housing and has a motor shaft connected to the input shaft which is surrounded by an electrically actuated brake effective to brake the input shaft to the housing. A shift lever operates a control shaft which extends into the housing parallel to the output shaft, and the control shaft supports a rotary cam which moves a spring biased clutch yoke for shifting the clutch sleeve between positive engaged and disengaged positions with respect to a drive gear rotatably supported by the output shaft. The rotary cam provides for spring biased overtravel of the lever operated control shaft and over center action between the engaged and disengaged positions. A solenoid is mounted on the housing and is connected by a lever actuated rod to shift the control shaft and cam axially for also engaging and disengaging the clutch sleeve.

Male Urinary Incontinence Device

US Patent:
6059762, May 9, 2000
Filed:
Jul 20, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/118967
Inventors:
Mildred E. Boyer - Tipp City OH
Marinus B. Bosma - Tipp City OH
International Classification:
A61F 544
US Classification:
604349
Abstract:
A urinary incontinence device comprises a cover portion for male genitalia and a separable urine-collecting pouch. The cover portion has a frontal penis opening therethrough, a strap member encircling the wearer's body and securing the cover potion to the genitalia, a separate liquid-impervious pouch having an open, and means for removably attached the neck portion to the cover portion to enable a penis protruding through the cover portion opening to enter into the pouch. The pouch contains a liquid-absorbent media for suspension of liquid by the media, and preferably has a zipper lock on the side of the pouch opposite the cover portion opening to enable an active male to open the zipper and extend his penis therethrough for discharge of urine into a urinary receptacle.
