My name is Mara Wiliiams. I am a nurse practitioner who specializes in treating Chronic Lyme disease and other issues. I am the author of Nature's Dirty Needle, a book that tells stories of the clients that I work with. I also have a daughter who is gravely ill with this disease, has lost over 130 pounds and spends much of her time in bed in pain and sick. The politics of this disease are hurting those with it. Bringing awareness to it is one way to get the health care system to change and begin to recognize and treat this very ill population of people, rather than marginalizing them. It is malpracticie and negligence, and just plain wrong! I am working on developing an inpatient center for those with this illness so they have a place to come and get the supportive help they need that is now denied to them by the current health care system
