Volumetric Filter For Liquid Level Measurement Devices

US Patent:
4430212, Feb 7, 1984
Filed:
Aug 25, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/411146
Inventors:
Manuel Gutierrez - Golden CO
Michael A. Gutierrez - Lexington KY
International Classification:
B03D 300
US Classification:
210104
Abstract:
A volumetric filtering device is provided for use in a liquid level measuring apparatus. The device includes a communicating passageway between a first container for the liquid and a second container in which the measurement is to be made. The communicating passageway is provided with a first opening to the first container and a second opening to the second container, the first opening being located at a higher vertical displacement than the second opening. The described filter prevents passage of suspended particles, sediments, solids and other precipitants, as well as the passage of air bubbles, from the first container to the second container. The filter structure is also useful to prevent passage of a buoyant liquid, floating in a layer above the liquid to be measured, from the first to the second container. The passageway is volumetrically chosen to assure that none of the buoyant liquid will pass therethrough. A further vertical tubular component is provided to reduce the volumetric requirements of the communicating passageway.

Fishing Rod Holder And Stand

US Patent:
5088224, Feb 18, 1992
Filed:
Feb 1, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/649677
Inventors:
Manuel Gutierrez - Golden CO
International Classification:
A01K 9710
US Classification:
43 212
Abstract:
A holder for a fishing rod that has a rearward rod handle support, a forward rod handle support, and a frame upon which the supports are mounted. The forward rod handle support having a first and second finger mounted for pivotal movement of their tips toward each other when a downward force is applied to a cable connecting the bottom end portions of the fingers. Also, a holder having a frame with a pair of rails, a rearward cable with each of its ends secured to one of the rails, and a forward cable with each of its ends secured to one of the rails. Additionally a holder with a frame having a rearward rod handle support loop, a forward upwardly extending pair of rails with a cable connecting them, and a central double rail portion. The holders can include a curved strip member, a circular cylindrical mounting block with an annular recess, or grooved mounting block with a positioning bar and tightening means. Finally, folding stands are disclosed having: (a) a bottom strip member with a foot ledge and a spiked lower end, and a top strip member with a mounting ledge and at least two projections at its bottom end; and (b) an L-bracket, a vertical support member pivotally engaged with the vertical portion of the L-bracket, a pivot rod through the vertical portion and the vertical support member, and a first, second, and third extension support.

Capacitance Probe Sensor Device

US Patent:
4389900, Jun 28, 1983
Filed:
Dec 24, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/219705
Inventors:
Manuel Gutierrez - Golden CO
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the
Interior - Washington DC
International Classification:
G01F 134, G01F 100
US Classification:
7386142
Abstract:
A capacitance probe sensor device is disclosed which has a probe formed of KYNAR insulated wire spaced from an uninsulated metallic ground electrode. An oscillator and associated capacitance-resistance network connected to the probe serve to provide a linear output voltage proportional to the change of capacitance between the insulated wire and the ground electrode. The capacitance probe sensor device can be used in a number of applications. They include the measurement of water level, the determination of a liquid's flow rate, and the moisture content of soil.

Void Detector System

US Patent:
4163393, Aug 7, 1979
Filed:
Aug 4, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/931069
Inventors:
Manuel Gutierrez - Golden CO
Phillip F. Enger - Arvada CO
Assignee:
The Unites States of America as represented by the Secretary of the
Interior - Washington DC
International Classification:
G01N 2904
US Classification:
73584
Abstract:
An apparatus for non-destructively testing concrete comprises a tri-wheel platform having a transducer mounted adjacent each wheel and mechanically coupled to the concrete to be responsive to vibration. An aperture is formed in the center of the platform equispaced from the three transducers. Vibrations are imparted to the concrete that emanate outwardly toward the transducers by manually striking the concrete through the center aperture with a rubber tipped impact rod. The transducers generate electrical signals responsive to the amplitudes of detected vibrations which are a function of the structural continuity of the concrete. Electronic circuitry monitors the outputs of the transducers and makes comparisons of the signals to determine whether a flaw exists in the concrete within the region bounded by the three transducers.
