Separation And Purification Of Gases And Vapors By Continuous Pressure-Swing Adsorption

US Patent:
4452612, Jun 5, 1984
Filed:
Sep 22, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/421642
Inventors:
Manlio M. Mattia - West Chester PA
Assignee:
Cubemco, Inc. - West Chester PA
International Classification:
B01D 5306
US Classification:
55 25
Abstract:
An apparatus for separating or purifying gaseous material having more or less adsorbable components includes a high pressure inlet chamber, a high pressure outlet chamber and a low pressure chamber. Adsorbent means retain an adsorbent capable of selectively adsorbing the more adsorbable component at a predetermined pressure level. There are also means for establishing a high pressure flow path for the gaseous material from the high pressure inlet chamber through the adsorbent means to the high pressure outlet chamber. The more adsorbable component is adsorbable by the adsorbent in the high pressure flow path. Further means establish a low pressure desorption flow path from the adsorbent means to the low pressure chamber. The two means for establishing flow paths are operable simultaneously to continuously separate or purify the gaseous material. A process for separating or purifying gaseous material is also disclosed.

Removal And Concentration Of Organic Vapors From Gas Streams

US Patent:
4409006, Oct 11, 1983
Filed:
Dec 7, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/328033
Inventors:
Manlio M. Mattia - West Chester PA
International Classification:
B01D 5308
US Classification:
55 28
Abstract:
Organic vapors are removed from a gas stream and concentrated to a high degree in a continuous adsorption process. The vapor-laden gas passes through a portion of a cylindrical-shaped adsorber as it rotates in a plane normal to the gas flow. The rotating adsorber then moves through several stages including regeneration and cooling. The vapor-laden gas is spiked with recovered product to increase the loading on the adsorbent and thus provide a higher regenerating gas composition. Multi-stage regeneration assures a high recovery efficiency.

System For Removing Organic Contaminants From Air

US Patent:
4231764, Nov 4, 1980
Filed:
Sep 25, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/945327
Inventors:
Manlio M. Mattia - West Chester PA
International Classification:
B01D 5308
US Classification:
55 28
Abstract:
A process for removing organic contaminants from the air or gases by means of a continuous fluidized bed adsorption system wherein the adsorbent material is treated in four continuous stages. In stage one the contaminants are deposited on the adsorbent material. In stages two and three the high and lower volatile contaminants are stripped from the adsorbent material. In stage four the adsorbent material is cooled for return to stage one. Each stage is controllable independently of the other stages so that recovery of contaminants from stages two and/or three are independent of the amount of contaminants recovered or the amount of contaminants which are incinerated for use in stages two to four.
