Interests:
Tour Guide / Interpretation of Natural and Historical Sites: For over 20 years I've been a volunteer tour guide with the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Every winter I offer a series of tours of the seasonal highlights of the garden, titled "Chase Away The Winter Blues." During my college years I worked as a seasonal interpreter for the National Park Service (wearing a "Smokey the Bear" NPS hat and badge) stationed at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Floyd Bennett Field and other Gateway (Brooklyn & Queens) NPS locations. I enjoy attending guided tours of natural, botanical, arts, cultural and historic sites: some of my recent favorites include: Weeksville (Brooklyn), Wave Hill (Bronx), Mickey Cohen's tours of National Park Service (Gateway) sites as a volunteer with the American Littoral Society, the annual Open House NY, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, South Street Seaport Museum, and the free Big Onion Tours of the Financial District (Saturday mornings at Bowling Green).
