Prior to working in long term care, I worked in acute care for 30 + years. For the 20 years prior, I worked in a world class facility in New Orleans La. I had the great privilege and pleasure of working at Ochsner health Systems. I saw things that I otherwise would not have seen or experienced, and worked with some great doctors and nurses. Ochsner is a Magnate facility, so the nurses there are required to be highly skilled.I have excellent assessment skills and am able to anticipate the needs of the acutely ill patient. I am comfortable working with all types of patients, with all types of diagnosis. I am comfortable administering medications IV, whether it be push, or drip, and tubes and/or drains are also in my comfort zone. I have worked extensively with central lines. I am skilled at administering medications via central lines, as well as drawing blood. I have used clot dissolving medications on a number of occasions when the central line becomes occluded, whether it be a PICC line or a subclavian central line.
