Appl. No.:
11/287809
Inventors:
Sharon Keeler - Bear DE, US
Sheryl Wolstenholme - Elkton MD, US
Jodie Duke - Newark DE, US
Linda Hnatow - Oxford PA, US
International Classification:
A61K 39/02, A61K 9/70, C07H 21/04, C12P 21/06, C12N 15/74, C07K 14/195, C12N 1/21
US Classification:

Abstract:
A process was developed for expressing antimicrobial peptides in a recombinant host cell that eliminates host cell toxicity and antimicrobial peptide degradation, as well as providing a process for rapid purification. Fusion proteins comprising a periplasmic targeting signal, cleavage site, and antimicrobial peptides provide the basis for this process which produces antimicrobial peptides that may be used in antimicrobial compositions and articles.

Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to isolation, identification and application of strain LH4:18 that grows, under denitrifying anaerobic conditions, on crude oil as the sole carbon source. This organism assists in oil release from substrate in reservoir simulations when grown on either lactate or peptone as a carbon source. strain LH4:18 can be used alone or in concert with other microorganisms to improve oil recovery.
