3rd place award for the strongest resident-produced research. My submitted research was regarding the evaluation of D-dimer in African-American patients with suspected deep-veing thrombosis, specifically the utility of the test as a screening assay. Vital variations in the sexes, as well as previous medical history, were analyzed in the study.
Grant for Advanced Consultative Diagnostics
College of American Pathologists
Two residents from across the country were selected for this award which granted me the opportunity to study under the direction of Dr. Juan Rosai at the Centro Diagnostico Italiano in Milan, Italy. I independently prepared his consult cases and signed out with Dr. Rosai daily. Specific emphasis was placed on thyroid consultation cases as well as soft tissue pathology.
