Systems And Methods For Personal Viewing Devices

US Patent:
2011024, Oct 6, 2011
Filed:
Jun 14, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/160314
Inventors:
YUVAL S. BOGER - Baltimore MD, US
Meir Machlin - Herzliya, IL
Lawrence G. Brown - Towson MD, US
International Classification:
G09G 5/00, B29D 11/00
US Classification:
345 8, 156242
Abstract:
Images are overlaid using a personal viewing device, such as a head mounted display. The personal viewing device includes a mount, an electronic display, a lens, and an electronic circuit. The electronic display, lens, and electronic circuit are physically attached to the mount. The electronic display and lens are positioned by the mount so that an eye views the electronic display through the lens. The electronic circuit overlays a first image with a second image to produce an overlaid image. The electronic circuit then displays the overlaid image on the electronic display. The electronic circuit can include an image generating device. The image generating device can generate the first image and/or the second image. The image generating device can be a video player or a processor. The personal viewing device can further include a wireless transceiver attached to the mount.

Systems And Methods For A Head-Mounted Display

US Patent:
2008010, May 8, 2008
Filed:
Nov 2, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/934373
Inventors:
LAWRENCE BROWN - Towson MD, US
Yuval Boger - Baltimore MD, US
Marc Shapiro - Parkville MD, US
International Classification:
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345009000
Abstract:
A head-mounted display with an upgradeable field of view includes for at least one eye an existing lens, an existing display, an added lens, and added display. The existing lens and the added lens are positioned relative to one another as though each of the lenses is tangent to the surface of a first sphere having a center that is located substantially at a center of rotation of the eye. The existing display and the added display are positioned relative to one another as though each of the displays is tangent to a surface of a second sphere having a radius larger than the first sphere's radius and having a center that is located at the center of rotation of the eye. A head mount for the head-mounted display includes two parallel rails, one or more brow pads, one or more top pads, and one or more back pads.

Systems And Methods For Electronic And Virtual Ocular Devices

US Patent:
2009005, Mar 5, 2009
Filed:
Nov 3, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/263711
Inventors:
Lawrence G. Brown - Towson MD, US
Yuval S. Boger - Baltimore MD, US
International Classification:
G02B 23/00, G02B 27/22
US Classification:
359421, 359466
Abstract:
An ocular device is be used to magnify virtual and real scenes in a binocular or monocular configuration. A plurality of lenses is positioned as though each of the lenses is tangent to a surface of a first sphere having a center that is located substantially at a center of rotation of an eye of a user. A plurality of displays is positioned as though each of the displays is tangent to a surface of a second sphere having a radius larger than the first sphere's radius and having a center that is located at a center of rotation of the eye. Each of the displays corresponds to at least one of the lenses, and is imaged by the corresponding lens. A processor displays an image to the user using the plurality of displays. An input device allows the user to adjust a magnification of the image.
