Philosophy:
Having worked with families for almost 20 years, I believe in combining a supportive therapeutic relationship with strategies that are research based and effective. Parents come to me for help when they are at their wits end over their child's behavioral emotional problems, attachment issues, trauma or adjustment problems. My primary focus is treating children under 8 years old using Parent Child Interaction Therapy PCIT. PCIT is an evidence based treatment for young children with social emotional and behavioral problems. It places emphasis on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent child interaction patterns. In PCIT, parents are taught specific skills to establish a nurturing and secure relationship with their child while increasing their child’s pro social behavior and decreasing negative behavior. PCIT is appropriate for Children who are between the ages of 2 and 7 years who exhibit Non compliance Aggression tantrums hyperactivity self injurious behavior whining, swearing, sassing low self esteem perfectionism Anxiety low mood, withdrawn effects of chronic trauma am also trained to treat older children and adults with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other mental health problems.
