Laurie was born in Pensacola and has lived along the Emerald Coast all of her life. <br />She attended Florida State University. Upon graduation, she started working in various hospital fields as a Registered Nurse then she became a Home Health Nurse and worked in that industry for many years. She actually became interested in real estate as a child as she observed her father working as a realtor selling land and property. Her mother who taught school for 30 years encouraged her to move to Destin and become involved in real estate. She took her mother’s advice and upon moving to beautiful Destin in 1999, obtained both her Realtor and Broker license. She placed her license with Keller Williams Realty Emerald Coast, and received the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award for the region. Laurie comments that she feels honored being one of the founding agents at the Destin office of Keller Williams Realty and that the “the last 9 years here have been the most interesting …and rewarding years of my life.” <br />The Team Leader at Keller Williams Realty is Jeff Adamson. “He not only is a great leader, but he also creates an environment for everyone to succeed.” <br />The real estate business is constantly changing, so continuing education is critical to stay abreast of the latest innovations and technology. One of Laurie’s proudest accomplishments is the designation as a CRS, Certified Residential Specialist. Only 3 percent of the Realtors in the United States are able to pass the rigorous tests and earn this ‘degree’. She also holds the designations of GRI (Graduate of the Realtor Institute) and e-PRO Technology Training, which “Keeps me at the forefront of how I can make the Internet work to benefit myself and my customers.” <br />Lest she forget another important member of her family, “ Boca, my precious yorkie puppy, who is the smartest and most loving dog I have ever had. What a treat to come home to her playful face each day.” <br />Speaking of play, her favorite sport is ‘pumping iron. “You can always find me at Gold’s Gym six mornings a week beginning my day. Lifting weights may not sound like the most feminine thing on earth, but I’ve found a daily workout is a great stress reliever, a great place to get in shape, and a nice friendly atmosphere to interact with others.” <br />Additionally, she speaks of a very special group of associates she works with: ‘KW Cares’. At Keller Williams Realty, they have created a tax-exempt public charity that responds when a member of the Keller Williams Realty family is faced with extreme hardship they cannot handle without outside help, such as a catastrophic health emergency. The group of agents find it deeply satisfying to serve the higher purpose of business through charitable giving in the community where they live and work. ‘KW Cares’ also benefits other charities aligned with that mission, such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Harvest house, Sharing and Caring, and Cystic Fibrosis. In addition, they also have a charitable lunch every other Tuesday, as well as Rummage sales, Pancake Breakfasts, Food and Toy Drives.
