Hitching Guidance Device

US Patent:
4432563, Feb 21, 1984
Filed:
Sep 10, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/300932
Inventors:
Laurence S. Pitcher - Colorado Springs CO
International Classification:
B60D 114
US Classification:
280477
Abstract:
An improved hitching guidance device to facilitate the coupling of towing and towed units is herein presented. Such a device is advantageous when the towed unit, with its hitch ball receiver cup, cannot be readily visualized by the operator of the backing unit. The apparatus mounts on the hitch ball and uses electrical contacts, acting as switches, to sense the spatial orientation of a fine braided steel wire. This wire is wound under spring tension on an automatic reeling device and is stretched between the hitch ball and the hitch receiver cup where the wire is in turn fixed to the hitch cup in an exact and known location on the cup by a unique universal adapter clamp. Information relative to the position of the wire, and therefore relative to the position of the ball and receiver cup and their relationship to each other, is transmitted to the drivers area by a 6 conductor wire. This information is displayed on a guiding light console, visible to the towing vehicle operator. By appropriate response to the information displayed visually and audibly from this guiding light console, an operator can, with utmost precision, position the hitch ball of virtually any towing vehicle under the receiver cup of the towed unit, even under the most vexing of circumstances.

Forward Facing Brake Light

US Patent:
5680101, Oct 21, 1997
Filed:
Aug 12, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/105956
Inventors:
Laurence S. Pitcher - Colorado Springs CO
International Classification:
B60Q 144
US Classification:
340479
Abstract:
A light of standard color is illuminated when the braking means of a vehicle is applied. The light is extinguished when the braking means are released. The light is located on the forepart of a vehicle preferably in the mid-line, facing in a forward direction the light beam emanating therefrom projecting towards the front of a vehicle, and is so placed at or above dash-board level so as to be clearly visible to other vehicles or persons facing said vehicle or through the rear view mirror if such an equipped vehicle is approaching from behind. The forward facing brake light is one in number to avoid confusion with standard double or multiple rear brake lights and is visible both day and night when brakes are activated.

Tube Retaining Device

US Patent:
2005011, Jun 2, 2005
Filed:
Nov 28, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/722908
Inventors:
Laurence Pitcher - Colorado Springs CO, US
International Classification:
B65D035/28
US Classification:
222095000
Abstract:
After the user folds or rolls the emptied portion of a closed end collapsible tube such as a toothpaste tube a circular, oblong, or flat loop or band of elastic material is stretched over and encircles the folded or rolled emptied portion of said tube to prevent the contents from the unused portion of the tube from being expelled back into the folded or rolled, emptied and retained (by the Tube Retaining Device) portion of the tube. Concurrently, the Tube Retaining Device presents the emptied portion of the tube in a neat and tidy manner. Upon continued expression of material from the tube the elastic band is removed, the tube is once again folded or rolled and the Tube Retaining Device is re-applied. This action is repeated until the contents of the tube are completely expelled. As the spent tube is discarded, the device is removed and then ready for use on another such tube.

Watering Apparatus

US Patent:
4896457, Jan 30, 1990
Filed:
Aug 12, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/232115
Inventors:
Laurence S. Pitcher - Colorado Springs CO
International Classification:
A01G 2500
US Classification:
47 82
Abstract:
A measured and variable quantity of water is delivered to an object requiring periodic watering when a water filled vessel is inverted and mounted or suspended above the item requiring water. The vessels constricted orifice is sealed by a rubber stopper which has two holes into one of which is inserted a tube filled with water soluable material and the other of which contains a hollow vacuum breaking tube long enough to support the entire apparatus in reasonably giving material (sand, dirt, gravel, etc. ). A tripod stand is also provided to suspend the device if such giving material is not present. As the soluable material is immersed in water by inverting the device the dissolution process begins and when all of the material in the tube has dissolved the contained water is set free through the dissolutime time tube. Timed control of 1 to 15 or more days is achieved by providing filled tubes of various lengths.
