Modular Down Hole Gauge For Use In Retrievable Electric Submersible Pump Systems With Wet Connect

US Patent:
2011031, Dec 22, 2011
Filed:
Jun 22, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/166511
Inventors:
Steven K. Tetzlaff - Owasso OK, US
Ken Bebak - Tulsa OK, US
Robert H. McCoy - Talala OK, US
Lance T. Robinson - Tulsa OK, US
International Classification:
F04B 49/00, H01R 43/00
US Classification:
417 63, 29825
Abstract:
Systems and methods for employing gauge packages for use with a wet-connect ESPs. In one embodiment, a modular gauge package includes a body, a gauge electronics assembly housed within the body, and a pair of electrical connectors at the upper and lower ends of the body, where power is passed through the body from one connector to the other. The electrical connector at the top of the body engages a complementary electrical connector on the bottom of a pump motor. The electrical connector at the bottom of the body engages a complementary electrical connector at the end of a production conduit. The connector at the bottom of the body may be identically configured with the connector at the bottom of the pump motor, and the connector at the top of the body may be identically configured with the connector at the end of the production conduit.

Connection Assembly For Through Tubing Conveyed Submersible Pumps

US Patent:
2012015, Jun 21, 2012
Filed:
Nov 16, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/297979
Inventors:
Steven K. Tetzlaff - Owasso OK, US
Lance Robinson - Tulsa OK, US
Assignee:
BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATED - Houston TX
International Classification:
E21B 43/00
US Classification:
166369, 166105
Abstract:
An electrical submersible pumping (ESP) system for use in a wellbore that can be assembled in the wellbore. Upper and lower pump tandems are fitted with connectors that align the tandems when coupled in the wellbore. The connectors on the lower tandems have bores with enlarged openings on upward facing surfaces. Downward pointing pins are on lower facing surfaces of the connectors on the upper tandems. The cross sectional area of each bore decreases with distance away from the openings, so that as the pins insert into the bores the pins move along a helical path that in turn rotates the upper tandem into a designated azimuth and into alignment with the lower tandem. Properly aligning the upper and lower tandems couples respective drive and driven shafts in the tandems as the upper tandem lands on the lower tandem.

Assignee:
BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATED - Houston TX
International Classification:
F04B 35/04
US Classification:
4174101
Abstract:
An impeller vane includes at least one groove on a high pressure or working surface of the impeller vane to increase pump efficiency and reduce pump power requirements. The impeller vane includes a groove or a plurality of grooves formed on the high pressure surface of the vane. The grooves extend from a leading end of the vane to a trailing end of the vane. The grooves define ridges on either side of each groove that extend the length of the groove.
