Extremely competent, skilled and knowledgeable Speech Language Pathologist with the education, experience, communication and ability to work as a team with numerous medical professionals, and particularly fellow rehabilitation specialists including Occupational and Physical Therapists, I am very skilled in providing patient, family and staff education, coordinated in services to improve communication, as well as developing a plan for Rehab staff and NSG staff to facilitate cooperation , educating everyone on the importance of a professional and collaborative approach being crucial to patient's health and contribute to a faster recovery for the patient.to provide all speech, language, cognitive, dysphagia, and ability to communicate performing all required duties effectively and efficiently including documentation, and maximizing treatment outcomes through continued CE courses relevant to appropriately utilizing the latest treatment techniques and strategies so as a therapist I was confident I was providing the best, research based full range of skilled SLP services for individuals aged 0- geriatrics including assistive/augmentative communication service and development of a functional communication system when appropriate and being sure it was a system customized and appropriate for each individual.As a seasoned SLP with extensive education, training, and experience with 2 BA degrees in early childhood and special education, receiving my MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Medical University of South Carolina which was a three year graduate program with heavily medically based SLP education including nine months of supervised clinical work experience in a variety of hospital and medically based settings . This additional year of education and clinical training not only gave me the skills to perform all required and beyond duties in any setting but I also earned 40 + hours towards a PhD. than the typical two year MA,MS SLP programs. I am thankful for this additional year allowing me to develop , grow and have the necessary skills and education to provide superior SLP services in numerous settings including but not limited to schools, SNF, hospitals ( Acute and Sub Acute with Pediatrics and Adults as well as clinical training and experience in the NICU and Special Care Nursery) and have independently contracted my SLP services in the Columbia SC area.I consider Assistive Technology, Augmentative Communication and developing individualized appropriate Functional communication systems through proper assessments, evaluations, and utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach to provide the best recommendations and services to improve each individuals communication to their maximum potential. I'm highly skilled and confident in treating moderate to profound communication impairments from birth-age 21, also facilitate appropriate transitional plans for clients over 21 including job coaching, with the hopes of each individual having the best support system and training to be as independent and involved in their community as possible based on their individual strengths and abilities.
