Abstract:
A power steering gear assembly which is used to turn steerable vehicle wheels includes a piston disposed in a motor cylinder . A series of rack teeth are connected with the piston . A first tooth space is formed between first and second teeth in the series of rack teeth. The first tooth space has a root portion which includes first and second fillets . The first fillet has a larger radius of curvature than the second fillet . The first and second fillets have centers of curvature which are both disposed between a central axis of the first tooth space and the second rack tooth . The center pinion gear tooth has side surfaces and with intermediate portions and which are offset from continuously curving spatial envelopes and containing tip end portions and and root end portions and of the center pinion gear tooth.
