Electromagnetic Door Lock Assembly

Electromagnetic Door Lock Assembly

US Patent:
5184855, Feb 9, 1993
Filed:
Dec 23, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/812713
Inventors:
Kevin P. Waltz - Indianapolis IN
William P. Dye - Indianapolis IN
Donald D. Baker - Indianapolis IN
Assignee:
Von Duprin, Inc. - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
H01H 4700, E05C 1756
US Classification:
2922515
Abstract:
An electromagnetic door lock assembly employs an electromagnet positioned in a frame adjacent to a door, power source for providing power to the electromagnet, and an adjustable armature assembly positioned in the door for interaction with the electromagnet. The armature assembly includes an armature plate having a front surface and a back surface opposite from the front surface, a backing plate situated adjacent to the back surface of the armature plate, a stem coupling the backing plate to the armature plate including a spring biasing the backing plate and armature plate toward each other, a mounting plate for mounting the armature assembly to a door to be locked, adjusting screws for adjustably positioning the backing plate at a fixed position with respect to the mounting plate so that the armature plate is positioned at a first position for optimum interaction with the electromagnet, the screws having elongated heads for maintaining the relative alignment between the armature plate and the mounting plate as the armature plate moves between said first position and a position contiguous to the electromagnet.

Flexible Sheet Cover Apparatus

Flexible Sheet Cover Apparatus

US Patent:
6199935, Mar 13, 2001
Filed:
Aug 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/370467
Inventors:
Paul Waltz - Washington IN
Kevin Waltz - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
B60P 704
US Classification:
296 98
Abstract:
A load-carrying box on a land vehicle in the form of a generally rectangular container having an upper perimeter defined by a top edge of each of the walls encompassing an open top is covered by a flexible sheet cover having a first end secured adjacent a top edge of one of the side walls. A second end of the flexible sheet is attached to a roller having opposite ends projecting beyond the top edges of two end walls forming the load-carrying box. A motor is coupled to the roller for rolling and unrolling the flexible sheet cover along the top edges of the two end walls and along bows connecting the two side walls. An arm has a first end coupled to the roller and a second end including a slot engaging a pin defining a pivot for the arm so that the roller can remain in constant contact with the top edges of the end walls and bows as the flexible sheet cover is deployed and retrieved. The arm is in the form of a box beam of fixed length having an outer member, an inner member confronting the load-carrying box, and side joining members joining the outer member to the inner member, the inner member including the pivot slot. The motor is fixed to the arm between the roller and the slot, and a drive unit couples the motor to the roller, the drive unit being enclosed within the box beam.

Door Lock Armature Assembly

Door Lock Armature Assembly

US Patent:
5184856, Feb 9, 1993
Filed:
Jul 30, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/921777
Inventors:
Kevin P. Waltz - Indianapolis IN
Assignee:
Von Duprin, Inc. - Indianapolis IN
International Classification:
E05C 1756
US Classification:
2922515
Abstract:
An electromagnetic door lock assembly employs an electromagnet positioned in a frame adjacent to a door, and an adjustable armature assembly positioned in the door for interaction with the electromagnet. The armature assembly includes an armature plate having a pair of shear low-cost, replaceable elements that initially engage the electromagnet. A backing plate is situated adjacent to the armature plate, and a stem coupling the backing plate to the armature plate includes a spring biasing the backing plate and armature plate toward each other. A mounting portion for mounting the armature assembly to a door to be locked is provided with adjusting screws for adjustably positioning the backing plate at a fixed position with respect to the mounting portion so that the armature plate is positioned at a first position for optimum interaction with the electromagnet, the screws having elongated heads for maintaining the relative alignment between the armature plate and the mounting portion as the armature plate moves between the first position and a position contiguous to the electromagnet.

Accommodating Arching Lens

Accommodating Arching Lens

US Patent:
2006014, Jul 6, 2006
Filed:
Dec 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/297233
Inventors:
J. Cumming - Laguna Beach CA, US
Kevin Waltz - Indianapolis IN, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/16
US Classification:
623006370
Abstract:
A flexible accommodating intraocular lens having anteriorly and posteriorly movable extended portions, such as T-shaped haptics, extending from a central solid biconvex optic to be implanted within a natural capsular bag of a human eye with the extended portions positioned between an anterior capsular rim and a posterior capsule of the bag, whereby during a post-operative healing period, fibrosis occurs about the extended portions to fixate the lens in the bag in a manner such that subsequent natural contraction and relaxation of the ciliary muscle moves and deforms the optic to provide vision accommodation.
