Interests:
Writing (some published) on architectural theory and criticism, painting (gallery shows & premiations), illustration, calligraphy, symphonic band and solo performance, early music ensemble activities, international travel. Travel has included numerous field trips to Western and Eastern Europe which have profoundly influenced my perceptions and beliefs with regard to architecture and urbanism. Recent years have included extensive travel in North America and renewed participation in the AIA Committee on Design Conferences here and abroad. Current personal work includes renewed involvement in an extensive writing/illustrative project about morphological fundamentals of architecture.

Numerous awards for architectural projects for which I was principal designer from Gulf States AIA, AIA Tennessee, AIA East Tennessee, Masonry Institute of Tennessee, Urban Land Institute, Knox Metropolitan Planning Commission, others.
First Prize as designer in competitions for Market Square, Knoxville and AIA Habitat House, Knoxville.
Recipient, East Tennessee AIA Gold Medal.
Winner, 56th Lloyd Warren Fellowship (Paris Prize).
