Venturi Bernoulli Heat Extraction System For Laptop Computers

US Patent:
2008008, Apr 17, 2008
Filed:
Oct 11, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/548441
Inventors:
David Bruce Kumhyr - Austin TX, US
Kenneth Alexander McKethan - Dunn NC, US
Ragunathan Srinivasan - Apex NC, US
International Classification:
G06F 1/20
US Classification:
361687
Abstract:
A heat extraction system is provided for a laptop computer that comprises a system unit that includes a set of heat sources and a video display unit that is movably attached to the system unit. The laptop computer has air inlets and air outlets that allow air to flow into the system unit, over the heat sources forming heated air, and exhaust the heated air. The laptop computer has a set of tubes, which have an inlet and an outlet, located behind a video display in the video display unit and an air connection from the air outlets to each inlet in the tubes. The set of tubes are formed such that heated air passing through a constriction in the set of tubes changes in velocity and pressure in order to satisfy the conservation of flow rate. Thus, heat produced by the heat sources is extracted from the laptop computer.

Method And System To Gauge And Control Project Churn

US Patent:
2005018, Aug 25, 2005
Filed:
Feb 20, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/708262
Inventors:
Kenneth McKethan - Dunn NC, US
International Classification:
G06F009/44
US Classification:
717101000
Abstract:
A method to gauge and control churn of a project may include determining an estimated project churn. The method may also include allocating resources in response to the estimated project churn. Another method to gauge and control project churn in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention may include entering a project-specific task list. The method may also include entering at least optimistic, pessimistic and expected time requirements to rework or modify each task of the project requiring rework or modification in response to any potential project changes. An average time requirement may be determined to rework or modify each task requiring rework or modification in response to any potential project changes, and a weighted average duration analysis may be performed on any tasks requiring rework or modification in response to any potential project changes. An impact to the project may be determined in response to the weighted average duration analysis.

Tracking Rescheduled Meetings On Electronic Calendars

US Patent:
2005027, Dec 15, 2005
Filed:
Jun 9, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/864234
Inventors:
Kenneth Alexander McKethan - Dunn NC, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F003/00
US Classification:
715710000, 715708000
Abstract:
Methods and computer program products for tracking rescheduled meetings on an electronic calendar. When a meeting is rescheduled from a first time to a second time, the visual appearance of the meeting notice for the first time is altered. A link that changes the calendar page to the page showing the second time is provided on the page corresponding to the first time, so that the user may move conveniently to the rescheduled meeting notice. The meeting notice at the second time may be provided with a link that changes the calendar page to the page showing the first time, so that the user may move conveniently to the meeting notice as originally scheduled.
