The patient is the driver of their car, which is their body. I am not the driver or even the backseat driver. My role is that of the navigator. I help you get to where you want to go and how you want to get there. If we take detours or hit a few pot holes on the way, that's the way of life, not the end of the world. We work together. I try to steer us away from the cliffs and routes I perceive are not in your best interest. This is the best analogy of how I practice. Bottom line it is your body and mind. It is your problem, not mine. I am here to help you in any way that I can, or get you to the person I think will help you best if I cannot do it alone. You and I get to know each other and call each other by first names. I get to know your family and about your life. I love what I do. People are not machines and everyone is very unique and I love that in the practice of medicine.
