Self-Propelled Loader Carrier

US Patent:
5490755, Feb 13, 1996
Filed:
Jul 6, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/271377
Inventors:
Keith W. Billotte - Clearfield PA
International Classification:
B60P 148
US Classification:
414550
Abstract:
A self-propelled boom loader is arranged as a hybrid between a trailer and a self-propelled vehicle. The loader has a carriage with a pair of independently controllable drive wheels powered by hydraulic drive motors and a free turning third wheel caster spaced from the drive wheels in a tricycle configuration. A hydraulic loader such as a knuckle boom loader is carried on the carriage on a turntable mount. The loader has an on-board hydraulic pump providing operational hydraulic pressure to the boom and turntable, which pressure is controllably divertable to operate the drive motors via controls in the loader cab. The loader is adapted for maneuvering in close quarters and has stabilizing outriggers. The drive wheels have rotationally disengageable hubs for freewheeling, and the carriage has a tow hitch coupleable to a tow vehicle for trailering, the wheels and hitch being mounted on the carriage such that the third wheel is lifted from the ground during trailering, for over the road transport.

Vehicle With Trussed Box Beam Load Supports

US Patent:
6149360, Nov 21, 2000
Filed:
Oct 7, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/414373
Inventors:
Keith W. Billotte - Clearfield PA
International Classification:
B60P 712, B61D 316
US Classification:
410 37
Abstract:
A vehicle is structured for transporting heavy loads of unstable elongated items such as logs or heavy pipes and includes longitudinally spaced lateral members or "bunks" and vertical stakes at the ends of the bunks. Each of the bunks comprising an elongated steel beam having at least three spaced mutually perpendicular plates defining a hollow inside of the beam, preferably a box beam formed by welding together elongated plates. A number of trusses are placed in the hollow inside of the beam, at least some of which extend diagonally between spaced plates, especially the upper and lower plates. The trusses form triangular bracing structures with the plates for supporting the load on the beams at spaced points along the length of the vehicle. In a preferred arrangement, a center truss forms a medial triangular structure and at least two wing trusses form lateral triangular structures on each side of the center truss, and the beams are supported by longitudinal frame members of the vehicle in the area of the center truss. The center truss and wing trusses form triangles that abut proceeding from the center to the ends of the beams.

Vehicle Storage Tank Headboard

US Patent:
5085468, Feb 4, 1992
Filed:
Jul 23, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/556838
Inventors:
Keith Billotte - Clearfield PA
International Classification:
B60P 300
US Classification:
280831
Abstract:
A vehicle headboard defining a hydraulic oil storage tank for use on a vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle headboard can include a top header, a bottom header, a plurality of spaced apart transfer tubes connected between the top and bottom headers, and mounting brackets attachable to the vehicle. The top header has at least one fluid inlet, a plurality of outlets to the transfer tubes, and receives a portion of hydraulic oil in an interior volume. The bottom header has a plurality of inlets from the transfer tubes, at least one fluid outlet, and also receives a portion of hydraulic oil in an interior volume. The invention is mountable in place of a conventional headboard, and obviates the need for any further hydraulic tank, while placing the storage volume higher than the pump and also improving cooling. The headboard can accommodate various functional storage tank accessories.

Heating System

US Patent:
4479605, Oct 30, 1984
Filed:
Apr 23, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/256787
Inventors:
Keith Billotte - Clearfield PA
Patrick Shive - Drifting PA
International Classification:
F24D 300
US Classification:
237 8R
Abstract:
A system for generating, storing and releasing heat comprises a tank surrounding a reservoir for holding a heat transfer fluid, heat releasing means in fluid communication with the reservoir for controllably releasing heat from the fluid to an object or space to be heated, and means for regulating flow of the fluid between the reservoir and the heat releasing means. A heat conductive fire chamber is disposed within and substantially surrounded by the reservoir, the system also comprising an air supply means for carrying combustion air to the fire chamber, and a heat conductive exhaust means for carrying hot exhaust gases through the reservoir. Access passageways are provided for fuel insertion and ash removal. Boiler tubes supporting the fuel as well as collecting heat from the fire chamber communicate with fluid in the reservoir. Shaker bars interspersed between the boiler tubes supporting the fuel may be actuated to agitate and more completely combust the fuel.
