Philosophy:
I believe that Play Therapy uses children's natural inclination to play as a means of creating an emotionally safe therapeutic environment that encourages communication, relationship-building, and problem solving. Play therapy enables children to express, explore, and make sense of their difficult and painful experiences. It helps them to find healthier ways of communicating, developing fulfulling relationships, increase resiliency, and facilitate emotion literacy. Children have the innate capacity to resolve the problems they are experiencing and increase self-mastery. I unconditionally accept and empathize with the child and the child's play, while following the guidelines that provide safety and structure. I provide an atmosphere that allows children to explore and master the self. Every child is unique with different needs and strengths. Creativity and specialized expertise in different kinds of play therapy is necessary to individualize treatment.
