Method For Removal Of Hiv And Other Viruses From Blood

US Patent:
6528057, Mar 4, 2003
Filed:
Aug 30, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/385166
Inventors:
Julian L. Ambrus - Buffalo NY 14222-1509
David O. Scamurra - Eggertsville NY 14226
International Classification:
A61K 3900
US Classification:
4241401, 210645, 210646, 435 4, 435 6, 435 71, 436501, 5303881, 5303891, 5303894, 604 401, 604 501, 604 502
Abstract:
This invention discloses a method for reducing the viral load by removal of viruses or fragments or components thereof from the blood by extracorporeally circulating blood through hollow fibers which have in the porous exterior surface, immobilized affinity molecules having specificity for viral components. Passage of the fluid through the hollow fibers causes the viral particles to bind to the affinity molecules thereby reducing the viral load in the effluent.

In Vitro And In Vivo Silencing Of Human C-Myc Oncogene Expression By Poly-Dnp-Rna

US Patent:
2006012, Jun 8, 2006
Filed:
Nov 22, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/284693
Inventors:
Jui Wang - Williamsville NY, US
Long Shen - Tonawanda NY, US
Chongjie Zhang - Chengdu, CN
Julian Ambrus - Buffalo NY, US
International Classification:
A61K 48/00
US Classification:
514044000
Abstract:
The present invention provides antisense oligoribonucleotides with sequences that recognize and bind to the c-myc gene or c-myc mRNA, where one or more sugar residues of the oligoribonucleotides are modified by the substitution of DNP at the 2′-O position. The antisense oligoribonucleotides can be used for inhibiting the growth of cells in which the c-myc gene is overexpressed by down-regulation of transcription of c-myc RNA or translation of the c-myc protein. The antisense oligoribonucleotides can also be used for diagnostic purposes to identify the overexpression of the c-myc gene. The nucleotide sequence of the DNP-oligoribonucleotides is complementary to the sequence 578 to 598 in c-myc mRNA and does not contain a G-quartet motif. This DNP-RNA can silence c-myc gene expression both in vitro and in vivo with high efficacy and sequence specificity.

Method Of Diagnosing Sjogren's Disease

US Patent:
2013004, Feb 14, 2013
Filed:
Jan 21, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/574265
Inventors:
Julian L. Ambrus - Buffalo NY, US
Long Shen - Williamsville NY, US
International Classification:
G01N 33/566, C07K 14/47, C07K 17/00, C12N 9/88
US Classification:
435 792, 435232, 436501, 435 71, 530350, 530402
Abstract:
Provided are methods and compositions for determining whether an individual has Sjögren's disease (SD). The method entails determining in a biological sample from the individual the presence of antibodies directed to salivary gland protein 1 (SP-I), parotid secretory protein (PSP), carbonic anhydrase 6 (C A6), or determining a combination of the antibodies. Determining that the individual has SD is based on the presence of the antibodies. The method provides for detection of early SD. Kits for antibody detection containing the antigens to which the antibodies of SD patients are directed are also provided.
