Philosophy:
My interest is holistic in focus. I find that many communication, voice, and swallowing issues relate to other problems that my client may be having. Whenever possible, I rely on modalities and approaches that target the underlying causes of the problem. To address some of these issues, I use approaches such as Interactive Metronome, or BioAcoustics, which is a form of sound therapy developed by Sharry Edwards, M.Ed. For an idea of what this modality can do, please visit YouTube, search for Sharry Edwards, and view the video entitled "Breaking the Barriers of Disease." To my knowledge, I am the only speech pathologist using this incredibly effective approach.
Using this modality, I have been able to reverse vocal cord paralysis in three patients during the past year.
I work with children as well as adults. My style is informal, and I believe that therapy must be a cooperative effort involving the therapist and the client.
