Philosophy:
Dr. Joseph Romagnuolo’s clinical and research interests include pancreatic and biliary diseases and the staging of gastrointestinal cancers. Specific clinical interests in gastroenterology are in endoscopy and advanced endoscopy. Dr. Romagnuolo performs ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) and endoscopic ultrasounds or EUS. Dr. Romagnuolo is working with other physicians at Medical University of South Carolina on research for NOTES, Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery, where the surgery is done through the stomach or intestine as an alternative to abdominal surgery with scarring. Dr. Romagnuolo is also interested in designing and implementing clinical trials and clinical research, especially those that involve diagnostics and imaging and therapy.
