Philosophy:
My approach is one based on a wellness model. While it is necessary to target the symptoms that lead someone to treatment, I think it is a disservice to focus solely on a person?s symptoms and illness. In reality, people are much more than the symptoms that they may be experiencing. Each person is a human being with strengths, talents, interests, a vast array of experiences, and a support network of others involved in their life. I feel the most effective way to help a person begin to heal is by focusing on their strengths and assisting them to harness their available resources, while treating the symptoms that led them to seek treatment.
