Dentrifrices Including Modified Aminoalkyl Silicones

US Patent:
5078988, Jan 7, 1992
Filed:
Nov 28, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/276719
Inventors:
Samuel Lin - Paramus, NJ
Colleen Parriott - Monroe NY
John P. Viccaro - Whitestone NY
Todd Domke - Clifton NJ
Assignee:
Chesebrough-Pond's USA Co., division of Conopco, Inc. - Greenwich CT
International Classification:
A61K 716, A61K 722
US Classification:
424 49
Abstract:
Dentifrices including modified amino alkyl silicones are provided. The aminoalkyl silicones are modified with epoxides to alkylate the nitrogen atoms and decrease their reactivity to flavors and other aldehydes present in the dentifrice. The modified silicones form a hydrophobic layer on the teeth for prevention of caries and stain.

Oral Compositions Containing An Aminosilicone And A Lipophilic Compound

US Patent:
5188822, Feb 23, 1993
Filed:
Aug 7, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/741697
Inventors:
John P. Viccaro - Whitestone NY
John S. Bajor - Cliffside Park NJ
Alla Tartakovsky - West Orange NJ
Assignee:
Chesebrough-Pond's USA Co., Division of Conopco Inc. - Greenwich CT
International Classification:
A61K 718, A61K 31695, A01N 5500
US Classification:
424 52
Abstract:
Oral composition containing an oil-in-water emulsion, wherein the oil phase of the emulsion includes an aminoalkyl silicone and a lipophilic compound and the aqueous phase includes an emulsifier. The lipophilic compound is soluble in the aminoalkyl silicone. Preferably, a lipophilic antimicrobial agent or a lipophilic flavorant is employed. The aminoalkyl silicone forms a substantive film on the teeth surface and the lipophilic compound is deposited, along with the aminoalkyl silicone, on the teeth surface. Thus, the enhanced deposition of the lipophilic compound is attained. The pH of the compositions is preferably at least 7. The compositions are preferably applied by brushing.
