Apr 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/288847
Inventors:
Masahiro Motoyuki - Osaka, JP
Koji Yamamoto - Kobe, JP
Ajit Vishwanath Sapre - Moorestown NJ
John Paul Mc Williams - Woodbury NJ
Susan Patricia Donnelly - Kingwood TX
Assignee:
Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko Sho - Kobe
Mobil Oil Corporation - Fairfax VA
International Classification:
C07C 100, C07C 412, C07C 522, C07C 268
US Classification:
585323
Abstract:
A process for producing 2,6-dialkylnaphthalene from a hydrocarbon feedstock that contains at least one component selected from the group consisting of dialkylnaphthalene isomers, monoalkylnaphthalene isomers, polyalkylnaphthalenes, and naphthalene, is provided that includes the following steps: I. separating the hydrocarbon feedstock and/or a dealkylation product fed from step III into a naphthalene fraction, a monoalkylnaphthalene fraction, a dialkylnaphthalene fraction and a remaining products fraction; II. separating and purifying 2,6-dialkylnaphthalene from the dialkylnaphthalene fraction of step I; III. dealkylating the hydrocarbon feedstock and/or the remaining products fraction of step I and feeding the dealkylation product to step I; and IV. alkylating the naphthalene and monoalkylnaphthalene fractions of step I; wherein the hydrocarbon feedstock is fed to step I or step III.

US Patent:
6018087, Jan 25, 2000
Filed:
Oct 10, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/948666
Inventors:
Masahiro Motoyuki - Osaka, JP
Koji Yamamoto - Kobe, JP
Shingo Yoshida - Osaka, JP

Assignee:
Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko Sho. - Kobe
Mobil Oil Corporation - Fairfax VA
International Classification:
C07C 522, C08G 6306
US Classification:
585481
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of preparing 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene from a feed stream that contains hydrocarbons which contain dimethylnaphthalene isomers. The method includes the following steps: I. distillation and concentration of the dimethylnaphthalene isomers from the feed stream, to form a dimethylnaphthalene fraction, II. isomerization of the dimethylnaphthalene fraction to enrich the dimethylnaphthalene fraction in 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene, to form a 2,6-enriched dimethylnaphthalene fraction, III. purification of 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene from the 2,6-enriched dimethylnaphthalene fraction, wherein step II is conducted in the presence of a catalyst composition containing a synthetic zeolite characterized by an X-ray diffraction pattern including interplanar d-spacing (. Appl. No.:
9/223658
Inventors:
Girish K. Chitnis - Chadds Ford PA
Jocelyn A. Kowalski - Sewell NJ
John P. Mc Williams - Woodbury NJ
Chaya R. Venkat - Princeton NJ
Assignee:
Mobil Oil Corporation - Fairfax VA
International Classification:
C07D21308, C07D21309, C07D21310
US Classification:
546251
Abstract:
A process is provided for producing pyridine and/or alkylpyridine compounds comprising reacting a feedstream of ammonia and at least one C. sub. 1-5 carbonyl reactant under conversion conditions and in the presence of a phosphorus-modified molecular sieve containing catalyst to produce a product stream having a pyridine and/or a pyridine based compound selected from alkylpyridines or polyalkylpyridines. The catalyst has improved attrition resistance without affecting catalyst activity or selectivity.
