Inter-System Message Delivery For Sms Text Messages

Inter-System Message Delivery For Sms Text Messages

US Patent:
2007010, May 10, 2007
Filed:
Nov 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/267992
Inventors:
Terry Jacobson - Deerfield IL, US
Paresh Kanabar - Naperville IL, US
Mark McCormick - Naperville IL, US
John Nguyen - Naperville IL, US
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies, Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04Q 7/38
US Classification:
455414100
Abstract:
The present Inter-System Message Delivery System increases the SMS text message delivery success rate. When a mobile subscriber station roams outside of the confines of the cell in which it is presently registered, the delivery of SMS messages to mobile subscriber stations fails, since the mobile subscriber station is not present in the Serving Mobile Switching Center to receive the SMS message. This is particularly common when the mobile subscriber station is moving within the confines of a border cell or multiple cells of a Border Mobile Switching Center and is not yet registered at this Border Mobile Switching Center. The SMS message delivery process initiates a page to the mobile subscriber station via inter-system or inter-Mobile Switching Center paging. Once the mobile subscriber station is located, the bearer data for this mobile subscriber station is forwarded from the Serving Mobile Switching Center to the Border Mobile Switching Center in which the mobile subscriber station is presently located The mobile subscriber station is finally registered at the Border MSC.

Method For Sending A Message To A Calling Phone When Called Phone Aborts An Incoming Call Request

Method For Sending A Message To A Calling Phone When Called Phone Aborts An Incoming Call Request

US Patent:
2006026, Nov 23, 2006
Filed:
May 20, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/134708
Inventors:
David Benco - Winfield IL, US
Paresh Kanabar - Naperville IL, US
John Nguyen - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455445000, 455417000
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for sending a message to a calling phone when a called phone aborts an incoming call request. A mobile unit receives a call request from a calling phone. The communication network determines that the mobile unit has aborted the call request during ringing. For example, the mobile unit may abort the call request by pressing a predetermined key, such as the key, on the mobile unit. The communication network alerts the calling phone that the mobile unit aborted the call request during ringing. The network can play a message to the calling phone that the mobile unit has aborted the call request during ringing, and the message can include additional information, such as the expected length of time that the mobile unit will be unavailable or other predetermined messages.

Sms Notification Of Called Party Availability

Sms Notification Of Called Party Availability

US Patent:
2007020, Aug 30, 2007
Filed:
Feb 27, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/362895
Inventors:
David Benco - Winfield IL, US
Paresh Kanabar - Naperville IL, US
John Nguyen - Naperville IL, US
Huixian Song - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455466000
Abstract:
Methods and systems are presented for notifying a previously unsuccessful mobile calling party of a mobile called party's availability, in which a home location register causes an announcement to be sent to the unsuccessful calling party indicating that the called party is currently unavailable and that the calling party will be sent a short message when the called party becomes available. The called party status is then monitored and once the called mobile becomes idle or active, the HLR facilitates, utilizing a short message service center, sending a short message to the caller indicating that the called party is available to receive a call.

Method And Apparatus For Providing Improved Border Paging In A Wireless Network

Method And Apparatus For Providing Improved Border Paging In A Wireless Network

US Patent:
7366526, Apr 29, 2008
Filed:
Mar 31, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/094986
Inventors:
Jingying Zhang - Naperville IL, US
John C. Nguyen - Naperville IL, US
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H04Q 7/20
US Classification:
455458, 455433, 4554322, 4554323
Abstract:
This technique is applied in the circumstances where an intersystem page message, e. g. an IS-41 ISPAGE2 message, is received in a first border switching module. The intersystem page message may originate from a second border switching module. In this case, the network determines whether the second border switching module is manufactured by a different network provider than the first border switching module. If so, a routine to address inconsistencies in the location area parameter is implemented so that an efficient paging strategy can be invoked.

Method And Apparatus For Secure Voice Communication

US Patent:
2008009, Apr 24, 2008
Filed:
Oct 18, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/582725
Inventors:
John C.V. Nguyen - Naperville IL, US
David S. Benco - Winfield IL, US
Paresh C. Kanabar - Naperville IL, US
Huixian Song - Naperville IL, US
International Classification:
H04B 1/18
US Classification:
4551871
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for secure voice communication are provided. More particularly, the present techniques are directed to the introduction of voice security for mobile-to-mobile calls. The coding and decoding is accomplished by handset vocoders, in lieu of coding and decoding accomplished by the network. In this regard, when voice security is determined to be necessary, users select a secured transmission protocol and communicate the selection to the network. All coding and decoding is then performed only in the handsets, as opposed to the network. Moreover, the vocoders implemented, in at least one form, employ security encryption, so that only the two connected mobile users are able to understand the content of the voice transmission.
