After finishing his secondary education at Marist School in Atlanta, he graduated from Furman University on academic scholarship as an Outstanding College Student of America. He then continued to excel in medical school at Emory University while also completing advanced surgical research at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.
