Compositions Useful As Fabric Softener

US Patent:
7662765, Feb 16, 2010
Filed:
Jun 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/137216
Inventors:
John W. Moore - Wilmington DE, US
Christopher S. Moore - Wilmington DE, US
Cassie M. Lilienthal - Philadelphia PA, US
Ashwinkumar Jaju - Wilmington DE, US
Assignee:
Optimer, Inc. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
C11D 3/37
US Classification:
510466
Abstract:
Compositions and methods of treating textiles are disclosed. More specifically, stable compositions and methods for softening a wide range of fabrics are disclosed, including 100% cotton and hydrophobic synthetic fabrics, without detrimentally affecting the water absorbency properties of the fabrics. The compositions and methods provide desirable odor control without interfering with the stability of the product. The compositions contain at least one fatty material, water-dispersible polyolefin or at least one water-soluble or waterdispersible polyorganosiloxane, and at least one bleaching agent, preferably hydrogen peroxide. The compositions may optionally contain discrete, individual polymer particles, preferably polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polyvinyl acetate (PVA), polyvinyl acetate/acrylic copolymer (PVA/a), or a combination thereof. The compositions are particularly useful when added to the rinse water in the laundering process, or in the final scouring of a fabric finishing operation.

Textiles With High Water Release Rates And Methods For Making Same

US Patent:
2008004, Feb 21, 2008
Filed:
Aug 24, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/844633
Inventors:
John Moore - Wilmington DE, US
Christopher Moore - Wilmington DE, US
Assignee:
Optimer, Inc. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
D06M 13/00
US Classification:
008116100, 008115510, 008115540, 008115560
Abstract:
Textiles treated with hydrophobic dispersions that exhibit superior drying rates and lower spin-dry water contents are disclosed. Polytetrafluoroethylene, polyvinyl acetate, and polyvinyl acetate/acrylic copolymer dispersions are used to treat textiles, including yarns, fabrics, linens, and articles of clothing. The use of dispersions create textiles with a discontinuous treatment of discrete individual hydrophobic particles applied to the surface. The treated textiles exhibit superior drying properties at very low levels of treatment. Also provided are methods for treating textiles with hydrophobic dispersions. The incremental cost to the textile of the treatment is minimized by low levels of treatment and flexibility in application.

Method Of Reducing The Distortion Of The Electromagnetic Field

US Patent:
2011022, Sep 15, 2011
Filed:
Jul 23, 2009
Appl. No.:
13/058575
Inventors:
John W. Moore - Wilmington DE, US
International Classification:
G21K 1/00
US Classification:
2505051
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for minimizing the distortion (or “regularizing”) of the electromagnetic field (EMF) associated with a subject caused by higher frequency electromagnetic fields surrounding the subject by imprinting objects placed in contact with the subject. The methods of the invention provide, inter alia, improvements in strength, stress potentiation, flexibility, stability, and sleep.
