Fume Hood With Air Chamber

US Patent:
6506109, Jan 14, 2003
Filed:
Aug 3, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/922037
Inventors:
John M. Bastian - Manitowoc WI
Jon Zboralski - Manitowoc WI
Thomas A. Grall - Whitelaw WI
Assignee:
Fisher Hamilton, Inc. - Two Rivers WI
International Classification:
B08B 1512
US Classification:
454 56, 454 57
Abstract:
A fume hood includes a top, bottom sidewalls, front panel and a back panel that define an enclosed workspace. The fume hood also includes a movable sash for opening and closing an access opening. The fume hood also includes an air chamber having an inlet in the front panel. The air chamber includes a baffle system that evenly distributes the inlet air as the air travels through the air chamber. An unimpeded flow of air is discharged downward and away from the breathing zone of the technician and proximate to the sash to reduce the forward momentum of air trying to escape the fume hood. The fume hood provides a safe environment for the technician to work by enabling the fumes to stay contained in the fume hood under all working conditions. The air passes through the air chamber when the movable sash is positioned at a minimum height above the bottom of the fume hood. As a result, the amount of condition air that is exhausted from the room through the fume hood is reduced, thereby lowering the operating cost and increasing the efficiency of the fume hood.

Latching Assembly

US Patent:
6431615, Aug 13, 2002
Filed:
Apr 28, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/561242
Inventors:
John M. Bastian - Manitowoc WI
Assignee:
Fisher Hamilton L.L.C. - Two Rivers WI
International Classification:
E05C 1906
US Classification:
292 80, 292 24, 292121, 292DIG 30, 312222, 3123321
Abstract:
A latching assembly includes a latch mounted to a moveable member, the latch being moveable between a first position where it engages a stop of a base member to releasably secure the moveable member to the base member and a second releasing position. An actuator drives the latch between the first and second positions; and at least one spring biases the latch towards the first position.

Corner Post Assembly

US Patent:
4750305, Jun 14, 1988
Filed:
Jun 18, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/064125
Inventors:
John M. Bastian - Manitowoc WI
Assignee:
Hamilton Industries, Inc. - Two Rivers WI
International Classification:
E04B 276
US Classification:
5212711
Abstract:
A corner post assembly particularly useful for joining vertical panels, frames, and the like, in constructing modular work stations for laboratories, offices, and industrial sites. The assembly includes a cylindrical corner post tube typically having two or more (but at least one) vertical side members secured to the tube at selected angular positions thereabout. A pair of upper and lower end caps connect each side member to the tube and a vertical riser, which may be a frame component of a partition or movable wall assembly, is secured to each side member. The connecting elements perform multiple operations in use and are sufficiently concealed following assembly to provide a structure of smooth, attractive, and uncluttered appearance. Where plural panels are connected to a single tube, an indexing ring secured to the upper end of the tube may be used to limit the relative positions of such panels to angular increments that preferably are multiples of 30 degrees, with adjacent panels being no closer than 90 degrees. The indexing ring receives an extension tube that has its lower end portion telescoped into the upper portion of the corner post tube, and the locking element for securing the ring in place also functions to anchor the extension tube against sliding movement.

Corner Post Assembly

US Patent:
4805365, Feb 21, 1989
Filed:
Dec 10, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/128687
Inventors:
John M. Bastian - Manitowoc WI
Assignee:
Hamilton Industries, Inc. - Two Rivers WI
International Classification:
E04B 256, E04C 330
US Classification:
52282
Abstract:
A corner post assembly particularly useful for joining vertical panels, frames, and the like, in constructing modular work stations for laboratories, offices, and industrial sites. The assembly includes a corner post tube typically having two or more (but at least one) vertically-elongated risers secured to the tube at selected angular positions thereabout. The corner post tube has a plurality of outer bearing faces which, when viewed in a horizontal cross-section of that tube, define a regular polygon in which the included angles between adjacent faces are equal and obtuse. Each vertical riser, which may be a frame component of a partition or movable wall assembly, is releasably but securely connected to the tube at three vertically and laterally spaced traction points, with the planar wall of the riser held in tight surface engagement with one of the bearing faces of the tube.

Automated Surface Covering Removal Machine

US Patent:
8056444, Nov 15, 2011
Filed:
Oct 21, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/255392
Inventors:
Daniel J. Van Straten - Green Bay WI, US
John M. Bastian - Manitowoc WI, US
Terry S. Bosch - Manitowoc WI, US
Assignee:
TBD2, Inc. - Manitowoc WI
International Classification:
E04D 15/00
US Classification:
81 45, 299 371
Abstract:
An automated surface covering removal machine having a handle, a housing, a lever member, a reciprocating cylinder and edge means for providing vertical or near vertical movement of the edge means relative to the surface covering to facilitate removal of the surface covering is disclosed. The surface covering may be shingles, carpeting, linoleum, or any other type of surface covering. The automated surface covering removal machine is lightweight and easy to use and does not exert a debilitating backwards force on the user. The reciprocating cylinder allows for a variable stroke height of the tooth bar allowing for more rapid removal of a surface covering.
